Blush Makeup and Skin Studio — Local services in Monterey

First off I want to start off by saying these ladies are amazing! I found blush on google and decided to give them A call to see if they could do my makeup/put in my hair extensions in. Right way I was greeted on the phone by a friendly person, who was able to get me in on September 9th,2022.

The day of my appointment I was greeted once again by A friendly staff and was told to take a drink and get a snack if I wanted one. The two girls that did my hair and make up did a wonderful job. They were friendly knowledgeable and made me feel comfortable from start to finish. We had A wonderful conversations that lasted the whole appointment. They really made my 40th birthday special.

My make up appointment was 10 AM which afterwards I had to rush to get ready, to be in San Juan Bautista to set up for my aunts wedding. Mind you I was in 97° weather and my make up was flawless the whole day/night and looked beautiful. When I got home I didn’t even wanna wash my face because my make up still looked that flawless. They also put in my half up half down clipping Extensions. Which did not budge the whole entire day/night. The compliments I got on my hair and make up were, your make up looks flawless who did your make up, who did your hair it looks amazing. My answer every time was the girls from blush in Monterey.

These girls really know what they’re doing you should give them a try don’t pay attention to the negative reviews that people have left because it’s not true. These ladies are very professional very knowledgeable and make you feel comfortable and they do talk to you. I will definitely be going back.

So if you’re looking to have your make up done for a wedding your birthday or just to feel beautiful for the day, then blush is for you. I wish I could give these girls a 100 stars. I had a really disappointing experience with Blush Makeup Studio in Monterey. The manager, Liz, called me to inform me that someone else wanted the same date as I did. She insisted that in order to secure the date, I had to pay a deposit. So, I went ahead and paid $474 as a deposit. Five days later, Liz sent me the contract, and there were several terms that I didn't agree with. One of the policies stated that I had to give them permission to use photos taken by my personal photographer for their social media and advertisements. And if I didn't agree, they would charge me a whopping $500. I asked them, "Since when do I have to pay for not wanting to be on social media?". Naturally, I decided to cancel my appointment and requested a refund of my deposit. However, Liz flat out refused, saying there was no way they would return my money. I found it incredibly unfair, especially since I hadn't even signed the contract yet. I tried to reason with them multiple times, but they remained stubborn. So, I took matters into my own hands and made a dispute claim with my bank to get my deposit back. Even then, Liz still refused to give me my money back. It was so frustrating! That same day, I informed them that I would have to take legal action against them, in which they agreed to take it to court. This whole situation has caused so much stress, and it's the last thing any bride needs just a few months before...

This is my review based from a bridesmaids perspective. The 2 artists that did everyone’s make up gave a very uncomfortable feeling. They arrived and the atmosphere felt uncomfortable and they were uninterested in making conversation. The put their stuff down like they weren’t feeling it on the day. As a whole Iwasn’t impressed to say the least and considering the main percentage of clientele for blush Monterey is most likely bridal hair makeup it was very underwhelming. Also it’s not great when one of the artists smell of body odour. I mean I get it but seriously for what brides pay per person I think Blush Monterey is punching above their weight regarding class, communication and price! Hair was 60/50 (why are we still wearing masks?)again over priced. The hair stylist was really good and friendly and he clearly loves what he does and is a perfectionist which is what every bride and bridesmaid deserve. He stood on his feel for a long time, was very patient and kind. I want to say the 3rd star is for who we had as a hair stylist even though it would have great have for him to have a second pair of hand like the makeup artists had.
