To say the the stay here was wonderful is a complete understatement. That being said the back story...My family and I are evacuated from the CZU complex fire and we were sent to stay at this Inn. At first I was overwhelmed by the distance having a business an hr away and having 3 kids in which 2 had to be driven back to Boulder Creek every weekend. My family showed up exhausted and horrified at what this unknown place might be as at the end of the day it was not home. Fast forward 2.5 weeks and we were still guests. During that time, The owners were like no other humans I have ever met. There commitment to us In making our stay comfortable and secure was something I have never experienced, not even from my own family! The family that owns it always made sure we had everything and anything we needed to make our stay feel like home. There were a few times where I broke down in tears to these “random” people and I never felt like they judged me. They showed true empathy and sympathy in my situation and instead of just brushing me off they asked, “what do you need?” The stay was so humbling and when the time left When we had to be transferred back to Santa Cruz I actually cried! So to anyone that is considering staying here please do!! Support this wonderful family and their business. It’s beautiful and it’s very clean. They take pride in their family owned business and it shows through and through. To Lisa, Julie , The brother (please forgive me I am completely blanking! Either Anthony or a Michael?) and Allen their family friend that helps some of the nights. You all are wonderful and we will never forget you! Maxx asks if Lisa is going to come out when we walk past the office at the new hotel and I have to tell him we are not at the same place. It’s very sad we had to leave , but so grateful for the stay. It was an experience and a place we will always remember and people we will always remember. We miss all of you and we love you! Till we see you again, thank you. ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Mink , Stephen, Cyrus ,...
Read moreMy husband and I stayed one night here In June 2021. The room was clean and looks nice.. But, it was nothing special.
Pros: Clean and nice room. Convenient location (for purpose of our trip). Hot shower! Staff was polite. Parking on site, although it looks like there would not be enough if fully booked but I cannot confirm that.
Cons: We couldn’t figure out how to work the heat in the room. They had some light switches but how they read was not clear. Bulb in our bathroom was out. Unfortunately, the walls were thin- didn’t realize it until about 4am when we were startled awake from a noise outside and then as we tried to lay back down to go to sleep, we could hear the neighbor snoring. We actually turned on our own music to drown out the snoring so we could get back to sleep. Also, my husband was not a fan of the open parking lot. Since it’s located right on the street, anyone could walk up to our cars or rooms (versus a room inside of a hotel where the only access is through the hotel itself). Also, for it being a 2 star hotel rating, I was surprised that our total price was $250.
They must have great advertising because when we arrived in Monterey, I was shocked to see how many hotels there really was as the majority did not show up in my google search.
It is very unlikely we would stay again given what we said above, but if a really hot shower and a nice room are your musts, this spot checks...
Read moreMy original review was met with a confrontation by the staff in a less-than-kind tone. The review deserved some adjustment, but the number of stars won't be going up because of the rather firm tone of that confrontation.
The bed sheets are too small for the bed, so they aren't tucked in and aren't staying put. I'm waking up with my feet on the bare mattress cover. We spoke to someone in the office about this after the first day, but the problem was still present on the second. The mattress cover is worn out; it needs replacing. The mentioned "fireplace" is an electric heater with a light show. There's NO BREAKFAST, unlike other cheaper inns in the area; one site said that breakfast was included, and the one I used hid the information behind the fold. The television is mounted so low that you cannot see it from the other side of the bed because the dresser blocks it, while the electric "fireplace" is so high up that it does not warm the floor sufficiently. The booking site let me book the place at 8PM without prominently displaying the check in time of 9PM; the mobile Interface only showed the time if you clicked the fold. They did, fortunately, call about it, which solved the problem in this case. I hope no one ends up without a place to stay because of this...
