We stopped in for the $6 wine tasting and were upsold to the $10 one which was fine but that should have been the first red flag. The wine was good and there was a lot of variety. We had picked out 7 bottles to purchase and were told if we purchased 3 more we would get two free so we did. My husband paid and I walked out, I asked my husband how much it was and he said $235. I couldnāt figure out how 10 bottles of wine at 14.95 a bottle added up to $235 so I went back in and asked for our receipt. The receipt showed a $17 discount but we absolutely did not get 2 bottles for free and when we asked Ron, the sales person he said he must have misspoken. I then noticed that Ron added himself a 15% tip of $28 to our bill which is insane because we would have only tipped on the 3 $10 tastings and not the wine sales as well. Ron then said he must have pushed the wrong button because he meant to give us a 15% discount not add a 15% tip. The discount line clearly showed he added a 10% discount and then a separate 15% tip. This whole transaction felt super shady and we ended up not buying any wine and just paid for the tastings but I would highly recommend anyone double check their receipt and to take anything Ron tells you with a grain of salt, Iām pretty confident this isnāt the first time heās done something like this and Iām sure it wonāt be the last. We visit Broadway at the Beach often and will absolutely never make any purchases at the Boardwalk...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent into the Boardwalk Winery to pick out a gift for a friend of mine as I do every year. We asked to do a sampling of three wines and instead of giving at least two cups so that my boyfriend and I could both sample, he gave us one cup. I thought maybe he was going to get another cup so I hesitated in drinking my wine and within five seconds he asked me if I was going to drink it or if he should just throw it out. He basically made me chug my three awful tasting wines. Despite this, I was still going to purchase a bottle and some other gifts for my friend. While I was looking for the Chardonnay because he didn't seem interested in giving us any information about the wine or help me to purchase it, he started grumbling about how no one ever buys anything and they only do tastings. At this point, between the wine that had literally an inch of silt at the bottom of the bottle and his terrible attitude, I decided to prove him right. We made the four minute walk over to Coastal Carolina Winery where the lady was very nice and informative, and the wine tasted great! We told her about our awful experience at Boardwalk Winery and she told us that she hears about them being rude to customers constantly. Skip Boardwalk Winery and buy a handmade gift basket and wine slushy from Coastal...

It was hot so we opted for the wine slushies. We were greeted by the owner. There were normal and "high octane". My wife and I both got normal, were charged for the premium, when I asked he said those were mislabeled and actually he misspoke when he said they were regular. We had friends come in later, choose different normal options and were charged for premium.. because you see, those were also mislabeled and he misspoke when he said they were normal. All that before bluntly asking for a tip for himself.
After he defensively said the slushies were not slushies but frozen wine (despite the signs that said slushies) we were given sugar bombed surip that tasted like cheep Vodka. Maybe it was cheep vodka, maybe the wine truely was that bad, either way after about 10 sips of the detestable liquid a gut rot set in that woild rival the most sugary sweet alcohol available for purchase in a gas station.
If you want to hear more from the sugar wine guy, he apparently is doing a seminar in Traverse City, MI this summer on Christmas wines. Being from there I asked where he would be but, alas, he could not think of the name when put on the spot. I suppose this man and his wine will have to live on in infamous memory of my most...
