A bit overdue, but giant thanks to the Gardens of Babylon team for our backyard transformation. They turned our completely barren and undefined backyard into one that we'll enjoy for years to come. Vincent was great at listening to our laundry list of wants/needs and answering all of our infinite questions. His knowledge and incorporation of all that we discussed into our initial design was what ultimately made us a choose to go with GoB - we were clearly on the same page and the "professionalism" of the company was obvious. Vincent was super patient as we asked for numerous tweaks to the design, and was able to tell us why certain ideas we had were maybe less than ideal because of the sum of all the factors to consider, and always presented more viable options. Taylor was great communicator, and helped us adjust the scheduling of the project + kept us updated with the timeline and any needed adjustments very proactively. We really appreciated getting to walk the project with Vincent, Taylor, and Rob before we "broke ground", and again they were all able to answer all questions and make us feel extremely confident we picked the right company for what was to us a large spend and major investment. Val and Mynor did all the landscaping prep and install, and did a fantastic job. Have to again express the professionalism and how it was clear that they were doing everything the right way...it was very obvious they were experienced and the work we received was way beyond what a proud DIY'er like myself could have done. After the job was completed, they took as much care in cleaning up as they did with the install. Rob came out a few different times to make sure we were happy and to check on the plants after the project was completed which was a great level of service. They all armed us with the info we needed to properly care for the plants going forward. We're very excited to watch everything mature over the next few years, and love our new backyard. Will recommend Gardens of...
Read moreGardens of Babylon is not just a great place to buy your indoor and outdoor plants. It’s an experience, people! If I ever have friends visiting from out of town, GOB is on the list of attractions. It’s basically a magical botanical garden in here. I also recommend this shop to those looking for a unique gift. Seriously, you’ll want to buy everything. As soon as you walk up, you’ll be drawn to the rows and rows of eye catching outdoor flowers and plants in the garden area. Need some quirky art or sculptures for your garden? No problem, GOB has got you. Venture inside to the retail and indoor plant section and prepare to have your overalls wowed off by the incredible selection of succulents, cacti, pilea, sansiveria, palms, ficus, and the list goes on. They’ve dedicated an entire section of the shop to pottery and hanging vessels for all your plants. They even have an amazing selection of air plants! Your Pinterest would be so jealous of this shop. It’s a great place to shop with kids as well. I remember being enthralled by Venus fly trap plants as a kid and guess what? Yep, Gardens of Babylon comes well stocked. Seriously, I can’t think of anywhere in Nashville I’d rather shop for plants/pots/cute plant related decor. Best yet, is the staff. Every single experience I’ve ever had here has been over and above the call of duty. You can expect the knowledgeable and friendly staff to help you find what you’re looking for, offer a smile, and give recommendations on how to care for your new plant-child. I mean, how could they not provide such great customer service when they work in a magical plant wonderland? Surely after the hours you’ll spend here (because you never want to leave), you’ll have worked up an appetite, and there’s another reason to visit. The shop’s proximity to the Farmers Market is reason enough to check this place out. You’ll leave with a warm heart and probably a few new plant friends in tow. This place is not to miss. I love you...
Read moreMax is incredible. GOB are fantastic. I moved to Nashville and recently purchased a home on a challenging sloping block – 20’ slope from house to rear fence. I engaged Max after surveying the marketplace for a professional designer to help make the backyard useful and engaging. Max came up with several amazing designs. He is super creative, has a great eye for aesthetic yet practical and with terrific attention to detail and understanding of how people could interact with the finished space. He took our simple concept storybook and created a wonderful space.
The designs evolved as we grew to appreciate the land. He was never flustered. Part way through the design I asked if he could “fit in a 40’ pool”. He tried. We had onsite meetings with pool engineers and crane operators. We didn’t go with the pool, but it is a testament to the wealth of professionals Max has access to. Max worries over details like ground levels, drainage and finishes so you don’t need to. He uses modeling technology that captures your environment so you can see a video of how the design proposals would look and this allows you to visualize how you’d interact with the final design
He created a wonderful design that extends indoor living seamlessly to outdoor spaces. It flows from the kitchen into over 1000 sqft of special outdoor living and to the gardens beyond that make it a sanctuary. He also created a wonderful front entryway that connects visitors to the home and intrigues in a Lloyd Wright way. Max is a professional, super creative and one of Nature’s gentlemen. It is a pleasure to...
