We stayed 8 nights and found the hotel to be good quality and excellent value. We were very happy with the hotel, room, breakfast and location. ||The biggest question for most will be the location. It’s great. Easy 10 minute walk to Broadway, Germantown, East Nashville, Nissan NFL stadium, or First horizon baseball field. Which we all did. Also a block from the main bus station (which I’d highly recommend to get around as it’s very cheap, $4 a day, and easy to use with a great app for planning and ticketing). You’ll see the reviews about the hotel being across the road from a prison. |It’s actually diagonally opposite a block that’s a court, justice centre and youth detention centre. The whole area is government services - it’s the Capitol District. We saw nothing to be concerned about and walked home from Broadway at night quite comfortably, There were a few police cars around throughout the day obviously just on business (not transporting people). We saw a handful of possibly homeless people which is normal in any city, but no rough sleepers and no beggars and weren’t approached by anyone, even in and around the bus station. The location is quiet with little traffic but not so quiet as to be concerning.||Rooms are large, well maintained, nicely decorated, well appointed with large fridge, dis washer and full cooking facilities and have double glazing and block out curtains. Large closet. Quiet and dark and good for sleeping. AC is excellent. Beds are king size and very comfortable. Large shower and great water pressure. Noise from other rooms was minimal.||Staff are friendly and helpful.||Roof top bar and dining are really nice with good food and views. ||Free Breakfast is great with full continental and also hot (omelette and sausage and waffles) included in a nice dining area. ||The hotel does have a $20 per day per room “destination” fee which seems common in the US, but for your money you also get free drinks on arrival, $10 per day food and beverage credit and free tickets to the Musician’s Hall and of Fame which is a block away. ||Highly recommended and excellent value for money when you consider you’ll pay twice the price just...
Read moreI am not one to be negative (read my reviews), however this hotel is the second time I have been let down by the Marriott brand. The hotel is a longer distance from the main downtown area compared to others. Across the street is a mental health treatment area. On the corner is a bail bonds business. The valet was not in any uniform and I was not sure who he was, an employee or someone waiting for an Uber. I made a call to Marriott Customer Service to change my reservation to another Marriott hotel, closer to the main strip and our Valentine's Day reservation. They told me that the on-duty manager would not allow me to cancel or switch and that I would be charged the cancelation fees (it is in the agreement when booking.) I was then transferred to the hotel manager on-site. She answered and immediately began to say..."hello, hello, I cannot hear you. You will have to call back another time." This was as soon as we connected and the manager answered. UNPROFESSIONAL as she knew we wanted to cancel. I was not calling back to go through the prompts to get her again, as she may hang-up anyways with the "hello, hello."
In all, we were charged for this room and the Marriott room we switched to, we were late for our Valentine's Day reservation and had to find another restaurant to eat at, and overall this was a bad experience.
For the hotel itself, I cannot speak on that as we never even made it inside. While trying to decipher if the valet was in fact valet, I pulled over in front to call Marriott. While parked on the side of the street, multiple homeless approached my car, knocking on my window.
Since then, I have went to Hilton Hotels due to this incident. Marriott customer service was no help, the hotel staff was unprofessional and rude. The area is shifty to say the least. No thank you Marriott. Instead of just looking to make a dollar, evaluate and invest in where you place a hotel. Until then, you lost me...
Read moreFirst off, the person at reservation lied to us about the parking. I specifically asked if there was on-site parking and was told there was and even told me how much the parking pass would be so imagine my surprise when I got to my hotel and was told they were valet only and that it was a different price than my parking pass. I should have just canceled and booked elsewhere since I specifically booked that hotel because I was told there was parking on site, but I decided to check in anyway only to be told my reservation wasn't until the next day. Strike two for reservations. They booked me for the wrong day. After speaking to who I assume was the manager, I was told they did not have a King Suite, which is what I reserved, available to check in to and I was offered a Queen Suite...for the same price. After going back and forth, they agreed to overbook and get me into a King Suite, which I appreciated. Onto the room... Lots of small things wrong. TV would randomly shut off for no apparent reason, A/C was messed up (room was 72F when I arrived, turned it down to 65F and the unit would run for about 5 minutes and then shut off and the AC control unit would claim it was now 65F in the room when it clearly wasn't. I'm guessing the temp sensor was close to the vent), and the soap dispensers in the shower was empty. Most of my complaints are directed at reservations and I was far from the only person to be upset with them. Literally every time I passed through the lobby, someone was complaining to the front desk attendant about various reservation related issues. I have been a loyal Hilton Honors member for years but I decided I would give Mariot a try. I won't be making that...
