What can we say about Smith Creek Moonshine?
We were welcomed with smiling faces and an invitation to the tasting bar. We were told that it will cost us the same for as many shots as we want. Aaron was fantastic. He wishes another patron a "happy belated birthday" and, as it was my wife's birthday we asked if he really looked at her ID. He came back, checked her ID again and, with a sheepish grin confessed that he usually just looks at the year followed by a warm happy birthday to her. Aaron had a great sense of humor and seems to truly enjoy his job.
The rules are simple...if you want the taste, he will fill your glass. If you don't, cover the glass with your hand, and if just want a bit make a little pinching motion with your fingers. Once he pours it, it's yours. He doesn't have a spit jar to pour it into, but he does have a tip jar.
The shine was really good. All except two were 50 proof which means that it won't overpower your palate. The straight corn liquor.was 100 proof and their vodka is 80. Nothing is overpowering or too strong to sip off the jar.
Aneesha was also a class act. At 22 years old, she has lived in several states and has a great personality. She was sure to tell us that she would package our moonshine in bubble wrap and had suggestions on how to pack to ensure we could continue to enjoy Smith Creek Moonshine after we got home. She was a great conversationalist and wanted to help us in any way possible.
Smith Creek was a great experience and we will be back...if not in Nashville, then one of their...
Read moreStopped in to get some alcohol for the evening on my boyfriends birthday. We went to the sample bar to try some flavors to see what we wanted to get. Then had an absolutely awful experience due to an extremely rude server by the name of Aren. He had an issue with my boyfriend’s ID because he’s from Jamaica. His ID which we have never had a single issue with before, whether at a bar or club or gas station or restaurant. He then refused to serve me too. It was quite jarring because I hadn’t yelled at him or cursed at him or even said more than 2 sentences to him at that point. We accepted that he wouldn’t take my boyfriend’s ID, I admit I was annoyed about it but I wasn’t arguing with him or anything. I was just standing there talking to my boyfriend about other plans we had later. He then proceeded to completely ignore me like I wasn’t there and when I asked him about it he said he would not be serving me because it’s his right to refuse service to whoever he wants. Our group elected to just leave rather than stay and deal with him. If you are foreign or even just want to have a good experience then I would go literally anywhere else that sells alcohol in the entire state of Tennessee. The whole experience was sad and disappointing and definitely left a bad taste in our whole group’s mouth. I really hope the ownership or management will do a better job of creating an environment that is accepting of all races and nationalities...
Read moreStopped in to get some moonshine to send home with a friend visiting from Brazil & thought what better way to decide on what to buy than to taste first. The male employee doing the tasting squatted down & used his vape, making a joke of needing his liquid nicotine. Several of the flavors my hubby did not like but the male employee said he wasn’t wasting a shot. There was no way to pour out, I suggested just dumping on counter since it has to be wiped up any way. The make employee gave his id back & said he costed more work. So either offer a jar to dump it out in or dump for someone. Honestly we have found very few flavors of moonshine we don’t like, but smith creek lemon lime is not good in our opinion, as was the strawberry, butter cake, orange cream, simply not good for us & to keep making us finish the whole shot (or half as I ask for) is ridiculous. We left without finishing the tasting, he lost customers who came to buy today for a friend. Not one other distillery have we ever been to makes you finish a flavor you do not like. We will share this experience & suggest not visiting because of the policy...
