The Empress by Altar Space — Attraction in New Braunfels

Hands down the most personal review of a business I’ve done. I hope it helps one person out there who may not be sure where to turn.

9 years ago I began a spiritual journey much different than anything I had ever known, and two and a half years ago it shifted again after having an unexpected accident. Which surprisingly opened me up to an another world of energy I wasn’t sure how to navigate, and I didn’t know where to turn. I dug as deep as I could go on my own for about a year, but I didn’t have a group of peers or anyone who really knew anything about what I was experiencing or tools to help. So I felt helpless in many ways at that stage of my journey.

I really wanted a place to go to in person to find more tools and information that could help me understand the journey I was on. I had ordered a few things online from places already, but I’m someone who needs to see and feel what I’m buying. So I finally googled “tarot cards near me” lol, because at this stage reading energy using tarot as a medium was all I had explored, and Elizabeths shop was the only one that popped up, The Empress. So I literally plugged in the address and started driving. Lol

The first time I walked through the doors of the original location I was nervous because I had never been in a shop like it before, and I had no idea of what to expect. Like I said, I googled and just drove straight there. I was searching for something I couldn’t put my finger on, I only knew where my intuition was taking me. I was quiet as I looked around, taken aback. I had never seen so many crystals, and the energy felt peaceful, like home. It really was magical, and I could feel I was where I was supposed to be. I still remember my first purchase, a Selenite heart, Bumblebee Jasper heart, a Leopardskin Jasper tower, and what has grown to be one of my favorite decks-The Wild Unknown.

Everyone showed me kindness, respect, warmth, and the freedom to explore my intuition and craft with no judgment from day one. I know for me, people have a tendency to judge the things they don’t understand, I’m sure everyone can relate to that in some way in life. But they never judged my curiosity, they encouraged it, and always seemed to guide me in the right direction wherever my spirit led me.

They gave me a safe community when I didn’t have one, in a time I really needed one, and for that, I’m grateful. It allowed me to find the courage to keep exploring, keep learning, sharpen my intuition, and keep cultivating the magic within me and keep seeing the magic all around me. To step into my own power authentically. It was and has been healing, and I know now that was what I was searching for more than anything all along.

It really has been a humbling, and beautiful journey, one I’m still on and will always be. But I know I wouldn’t have kept expanding it if it weren’t for The Empress being here. I have since been in other shops, but none like it. NB is lucky to have a metaphysical shop like this. It has a bit of everything you are probably searching for, and most certainly things you never knew you were.

So if you’re someone who is nervous about learning more, or don’t know where to go, don’t be ok, they will welcome you. If you are someone who already explores their own personal craft then it’s definitely the place for you. Last, remember it is a business so be respectful of their time, and energy as you would any other establishment. They provide the resources that can help you on your path, but the answers, the magic, is within you.

Holy smokes! This place is beyond INCREDIBLE. Excellent source for unique gifts for friends (or self). Wonderful supply shop for beginners and advanced practitioners! The women running this shop are a wealth of information covering all sorts of practices and the shop atmosphere even feels magical! The second you walk in you can smell the different herbs and incenses on display, and they carry books for all sorts of practices and specializations. They're so open to answering all your questions (because I definitely asked a ton and she fielded all of them with grace and patience). They carry everything from crystals, pendants, pendulums, bracelets, and charms, to having a partnered apothecary!! Even their products have little description cards for customers that explains what that product is best used for! (As someone who is as scatterbrained as I, it is nice to keep little cards like that to give my mind a break at remembering everything.) This place maintains a balance of beliefs with wellness and I am so excited to finally find a place that is so open and accepting of all practices. I'm going back soon. Peyton is amazing at reading tea leaves. She is teaching me all about teas and candles as a way to thank her I made her a zodiac specific bracelet of dragons blood with matching earrings. Everyone in the Empress has a special gift that if you want to learn more about they have numerous books on various subjects and things that will help you as you journey down your path. I always love coming into the store. The thing I love most is when you walk through the door you feel like you are in a warm welcoming place. Everyone no matter who you are is welcome with open arms. You may just go in to get a well sense of being and while you're there something may catch your eye or you may just go in for a little chat with one of the ladies that work at the empress. I highly recommend this store for anyone who believes in metaphysics and developing your metaphysical power whatever it is.
