Nuovo York Pizza is unlike any pizza I've had before, and trust me, I’ve had my fair share of New York slices. Normally, after a couple of slices, I feel stuffed or heavy, but this place has something special going on. Chef Atalay Mali, with his background in chemical engineering, brings this precision to his pizza-making that makes each bite feel lighter, but still packed with flavor.
I had their spinach and mushroom pizza, and I don’t usually go for veggie-heavy options, but the way that cream sauce balances out the ingredients is something else. It’s scientifically fine-tuned to be easy on digestion, so you don’t get that weighed-down feeling, and I couldn’t stop eating it. The sauce has this perfect smoothness with a pH level close to 6.5 (yes, they think about stuff like that!), which might sound technical, but all you really need to know is that it feels indulgent without making you feel gross after.
What really won me over, though, were the Sicilian double-corner slices. I’m a crust person, and these slices give you that perfect corner crunch in every bite. The dough is light but still substantial, and the air bubbles in the dough make it feel like you're getting more without it being heavy. I usually can’t handle too many thick slices, but with these, I could’ve easily gone for another.
Then there's the vodka sauce pizza, which is just as incredible. The tangy richness of the vodka sauce blends with the crust in this perfect way that makes every bite feel balanced, flavorful, and satisfying. You can really tell that there’s thought behind every ingredient—they’ve got the science down but in a way that doesn’t feel pretentious. It’s pizza, but with a twist that makes you feel like you’ve discovered something completely new.

Read moreI got a DM on Yelp to come and try this place. It read as follows:
"Hey Johnny I had amazing pizza at Nuovo York Pizza! You gotta try their spinach mushroom slice."
It had me feeling like a celebrity lowkey. I got fans!?!?! Shoutout to my boy Atalay A for the rec.
But after trying Nuovo, I was kind of confused why someone would go out of their way to slide into my Yelp DMs to try it. I mean it was decent to good pizza (3.5/5), but good enough to send a Yelp DM?!?
It all made sense when I went to write this review, and saw the owner responding to positive reviews. His name......? Atalay A. CROWD GASPS
I felt like Sherlock Holmes. I had cracked the case.
But in all honesty I do respect the hustle, so I'm going to review it like I would any other spot. Although, there are a good amount of 5 star reviews on here and Google Maps from accounts that have never reviewed any other place......... Really makes you wonder…
I had been spoiled recently with ELITE slices from L'Industrie and Mamas Too, and Nuovo didn't hold up to that standard. That's not a knock on Nuovo, but more of a testament to how good those 2 slices are. It's like comparing LeBron and KD to Kentavious Caldwell-Pope.
However, with a slice of cheese being $4.50 and a slice of pep being $5.50, it is priced higher than Bleecker Street, Joes, L'Industrie, Mamas Too, etc. A role player asking for star player money.
Bench players talking like starters, I hate it........

The Cherry Charm Pizza was a standout—perfectly balanced with mozzarella, fresh garlic, pecorino romano, juicy fresh tomatoes, and olive oil. The fresh mozzarella really took it to the next level! The Mushroom Pizza was another favorite, with mushrooms, rich tomato sauce, and gooey mozzarella that created a perfect blend of flavors.
We also indulged in the Pesto Pepperoni and the Vodka Sauce Pizza. The pesto twist on a classic pepperoni was inventive and delicious, while the vodka sauce pizza was creamy, cheesy, and satisfying.
The Tompkins Square (BBQ chicken) and Washington Square (pepperoni) pizzas were also delicious, offering classic flavors executed with quality ingredients.
Also, don’t miss the Parmesan Bread Bites—buttery, garlicky, and perfectly seasoned with pecorino and parsley, making for an ideal side dish.
Nuovo York Pizza offers incredible flavors, fresh ingredients, and a cozy vibe. Highly recommend checking this spot out—you won’t be...
