From what I learned on Yelp was very educational. Alex's Barber Shop is actually owned by a guy named Stan. Stan you may want to put your name on your own shop before deceiving customers that you're still Alex's Barber Shop. The reviewers here MUST Be getting paid. If there was a way to give them no stars I would have. I knew the previous owner Alex and his crew, they were great barber's from the neighborhood. Apparently Alex sold the shop 4 years ago from what I learned today. When I learned that, I should have went straight to the Dominicans in Corona, who could school Yogi on a few things. Yogi completely Fucked up my Haircut. I asked for a particular cut and it wasn't even close to what I asked for. And now I can't even style my hair the way I want to. I grew out my hair for 4 years. I have extremely thick hair and Yogi tells me after using a thinning shears, that I have very thin hair. I don't think he has a Fucking Clue what he's doing for a living. Just get yourself a pair of scissors a comb and blades and now you're a qualified Barber. He definitely without a doubt needs to go back to Barber School, which I'm sure he never went to and how he got his license to cut hair is a big question??? Prior to me cutting my hair, I used to cut my own hair, as well as my friends and their kids for over 20 years. My boy Rory's one of the head instructors at Paul Mitchell in New Jersey. When I used to have a skin fade, Rory asked me where I got my last fade, I told him I did it myself. He told me I had so much skill that I should go to school at Paul Mitchell where he's one of the Head Instructors, and he put me under his wing to teach me become a stronger Barber. If I wasn't in such a rush to get my haircut today, I should have drove to New Jersey to have Rory cut it or I would have done it myself and did I would have done 100% better of a job then Yogi. I shouldn't have even have paid Yogi, for the way he destroyed my hair. When I got home I had to literally clean up, all the mistakes that Yogi made on top of the bald spot on the back of my head to boot. They have absolutely no clue how to cut hair. And if you do go to this so called barber shop, make sure you do not have Yogi cut your hair!!! What a Fucking waste of Time & Money... Don't go to Alex's Baber Shop if you value your hair like I did!!!

If I could give this shop negative stars I would. This is the most deplorable service I’ve ever gotten at a barber. I started coming here since Covid and nobody wears a mask, they don’t even social distance or follow basic CDC guidelines. One of the barbers even sneezed on me while he was trimming my beard. Even the cut came out looking weird. As if he wasn’t even paying attention (I’m bald btw) how can you mess that up? Well apparently this shop can. The barber had me looking like I had alopecia. Note for Alex or Stan or what ever you’re calling yourself these days: next time I’ll go on the corner of Whitney and look for a homeless person to give me a proper shave.

I had a great experience at Alex Barber and Salon. Alex was really nice to talk to, and he gave me a great haircut. If you're looking for a barber who will listen to what you want, Alex is your guy. Just be sure to explain what you're looking for clearly. They even have a vending machine if you get hungry while waiting!

I grew up in this neighborhood for two decades and use to come to Alex years ago when he was still the owner of this shop. Alex was fantastic in his craft and gave the freshest cuts.

I’ve since moved away from the area and came back recently to visit family. The shop isn’t what it use to be anymore. Alex isn’t here anymore but another person (I think his name is Stan?) is the new owner. The interior looks dated and could use some maintenance. The new owner took me and I explained what I wanted. Maybe he misunderstood me but he went way too short and could not blend the fade properly. Since he went too short, there was no fixing it. I also have thicker hair and wanted to thin the top of the combover for texture. Instead, he cut shorter with the regular scissors and again it was too short to fix/repair. I work in a client facing corporate role, and the haircut I received was too unprofessional for the office or client meetings.

I wish I can say I’d come back but this negative experience is hard to give this place a second chance. This shop was a staple in the Elmhurst area - hate to see the direction it turned...

I’m a loyal customer at the shop. Whenever I have a appt or call for a walk in someone is available and the customer service is always 100%. All of the barbers are skillful at their craft and it’s phenomenal to see female barbers especially who are just as talented as the male barbers at least I can speak for the ladies at “ Alex “ LOL!!!! I noticed something else unique from day one about this spot it’s a Hispanic barber shop in a mainly Asian community, with one African American gentleman; who happens to be my barber: extremely gifted!!! I am happy to have meet this group of people and confident in all the staff if (the black guy) my barber is ever unavailable I will be in good hands, with one of his co-workers taking over. If you haven’t already treated yourself to this experience your cheating yourself and you don’t know what your missing out ON! THEY ARE A1 EVEN ON BUSY HOILDAY WEEKENDS LIKE TODAY HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!!!!! #dontcheaturself #treaturself #NYC #Bigapple #Queens...
