From the outside, this place looks like your typical takeout spot, especially with the more generic name, but don’t be fooled
When I asked the waitress about the most common, traditional village-style Indonesian soup, The economical-to-make Soto Ayam was the first on her mind.
Every culture has their own version of chicken noodle soup, from the Jews eating Matzo ball soup, Indians w/their Maggi, and Indonesia is no exception: Soto Ayam has lots of herbs, garlic, tumeric, egg, shallots, amongst others, with a very strong flavor to it. I had a slight cold earlier this week and this was the perfect medicine
2nd dish: Java fried rice with beef rendang: Battered with tumeric, garlic, an egg, and shredded chicken, this was exactly what I needed today. Beef rendang came with it, which is a chunk of juicy, shredded chunk of beef battered in pepper and stewed overnight

Read moreCame to visit last year to show a friend how Indonesian food tastes like and I can say that I couldn’t pick a better place.
We ordered batagor, ayam bakar and soto betawi. I was first quite surprised by the genuine portions, food tasted fresh, herby and flavorful! I’ve had these meals a lot in Indonesia and I can say that they represent the taste well and in many ways better, especially the ayam bakar. It was definitely the most tender and flavorful ayam bakar I have ever had!
Batagor was delicious, although the peanut sauce was a little overpowering for my taste but if you like strong taste I guess you wouldn’t have any issue.
Same goes with their soto betawi, soon as the meal came out I can really smell the aroma and soto betawi has a very distinctive herby smell and that was exactly how it smelt like.
Highly recommend this restaurant,...
