Brooklyn waxing studio — Attraction in New York

After searching google maps & checking reviews I came across this place & I called for pricing accuracy (even though there’s a picture on the service list posted) I was quoted $30 for full legs $20-$40 for Brazilian & $10 for armpits cool I grabbed $80 (4 $20s) threw in my fanny pack that already had a few bills ($10 $5 $1x4 = $19) in it which I was going to use for tip. Got in my Uber arrived greeted everyone said I called earlier xyz I sit for a few seconds before she called me into the room & began waxing. She asked if I wanted to do my stomach ($5; new total shouldn’t be more than $85) I said sure, when I turned around she then asked if I wanted to do my full butt since I’m doing my legs so it can be even, I didn’t ask the price just said sure. I’m texting my sister like “we found a new wax lady, she’s really thorough it’s still painful but it’s a wax” ... wax is done I’m cleaning off any residue & I notice a few tiny spots were missed but it’s not a big deal. Go out to pay (money on the glass/desk) she tells me my total is $105 more than I planned to spend but what can I do the service is done. I asked her did she have Zelle then remembered I had my card so I gave her my card & gave her the $10 as a tip. She then said we should spilt it 50/50 (which would be $52.50) because it’ll take out too much taxes if she charges my card fully, no problem ma’am (money is still on the glass, at this point my phone rings) so now I’m on the phone she’s having problems with her square just when I was about to say okay let me just zelle the $105 she figures it out but only charged my card $41.80 so she was only supposed to get $63.20 instead she takes the entire $89 off the glass counts it & I’m thinking she’ll put the extra $25 back on the glass but she puts in her draw I’m looking at her confused af because I’m not a mathematician but I know at this point she has way over $105 & that ain’t right.

Me: ma’am did you not just charge my card? why are taking everything when you just said you’re spitting it 50/50? Her: yes, it’s $13 extra Me: super confused trying to remain calm regardless if it’s just $13 which it’s definitely isn’t you don’t just take it I gave you a tip already Her: no you didn’t Me: okay so how much money did you just pick up? put back all the money I had, let’s count it. Her: I don’t want any problems pulls out the $10 & 4 singles gives it to me Me: this still isn’t my correct change, I had 4 $20s a $10 a $5 & 4 $1s

.. she refused to put the money back on the glass but I was so over it so I just left paying $126.80 in total (an extra $21.80). I can’t stand people who help themselves to your change/money, that’s very selfish & a bit greedy. I already spent more than I was quoted & planned for. Tipping isn’t an obligation it’s a form of gratitude. If I am to ever go back to that place I will ask for full pricing up front & pay ahead of the service because the wax experience outside of that issue was better than the 5 or 6 others I’ve had. Definitely the priciest as well, the ppl across the street are cheaper but they burnt me twice, are very aggressive, leave a lot of hairs...

Honesty you get what you pay for. They don’t use any special waxes like hard wax, for example. I thought I had myself a beginner when the lady waxed me, but it turns out that she’s “been there a while” and has done a million Brazilian waxes lol. I wasn’t even there for a Brazilian wax. The lady who I think is named Sara is KIND and very NICE herself! But.. I was there for my FIRST wax, in fact. I wanted to get a full leg wax. Long story short, it hurt a lot lol. She didn’t really speak. In the end I had like a lot of hairs on my leg left and I asked her about it. She went over them again but then she said that “the hairs broke” and I was just gonna have to stay like that. So there were smooth spots, but also “soft” prickly spots all over my legs (and they’re long) Wasn’t left “clean.” My legs and thighs were left with A LOT of redness and towards the top of my left thigh, bruises! She said I should just take a cold shower and everything will disappear. The redness died down a bit but I had bruises and marks for a week lol. I did my underarms and belly too and she left strays here and there. And forget it if you have an ingrown hair. These ladies aren’t specialists, they’re there to simply take off the hair.. kinda lol. They don’t do exfoliation or take out the ingrown or even go back for the stray. I give 2 starts because they were super friendly and kind and I paid like 60 bucks for all things in total. But I...
