DSW Designer Shoe Warehouse — Attraction in New York

This is the first time in this store’s location. I have shopped DSW before. Looking for rain boots, and found the small selection they had in the way back of the store. Almost nothing in average sizes, so I had to look through many different styles and brands before finding anything that would fit me.

While I was trying on, there was a guy there standing on the opposite side of the aisle with his phone facing toward me. He stood there for a long time, and I wasn’t sure if he was waiting for somebody or just reading something on his phone. After too many minutes, he was still there, and doing nothing, just watching me. I started to feel really uncomfortable, but continued to try to find what I needed. Eventually, I asked him if there was a reason he was standing right there. He said yes, and just looked me up and down. I felt really awkward, so I moved to a different part of the store and was finishing up my shopping. He’s kind of wandering around, and Wearing normal street clothes, so didn’t look like he was any kind of employee.

When checking out, I asked the cashier if she knew the guy, and she said no, she didn’t know anything about him. After checking out, I asked him if he was security and he just brushed me off, and started complaining about me bothering him. “Just doing my job”.

DSW, if you were gonna have security, then I don’t care if you have 500 of them watching all of us, please put them in some sort of identifying uniform. Even just a sticker that says security. It’s creepy to be stared...

Huge selection of shoes, sandals, boots and hiking shoes in all sizes, brands and designs for a wide range of purposes.

The shelves are neatly arranged by devoted helpful staff, allowing the customers to easily find out which sizes are available for each item.

The clearance section was surprisingly varied, also perfectly easy to navigate and sift through.

I spent a long time at the store, unlike my usual shopping experiences in which I just want to be done with it and get out.

I felt comfortable taking my time, walking up and down the store and looking for my desired pair. The music gave a fun vibe with just the right volume, nobody approached without me asking for help and there was a relaxing atmosphere about the whole place.

Prices are less than average, lots of items on sale, very good quality and excellent value for money.

Horrible experience at this DSW mainly due to the manager (Mohammed). We had an issue with shoes that we bought. The soles were broken within 30 days of purchase. Of course they were worn, but less than 30 days for shoes purchased for $200 is unacceptable. The manager would not accept the return or give full credit in the store. He forced us basically to go look for another pair right there and then to "see what he can do". Equal value was not guaranteed. After spending an hour and a half at the store with our 1 year old we eventually decided to take a loss and go for another pair. We eventually met another manager at the front who was gracious enough to give us store credit for the difference, but at that point we lost an hour and a half and couldn't finish our Christmas shopping. Overall I don't know if Ill be back...
