New Bubble Tea Shop Opens in Flushing, NYC: "Avocado Nectar" is an Absolute Game-Changer

Now there are two Heytea locations in Flushing, I'm glad they've expanded from their first Midtown location. I've tried a couple of their drinks before and I think their fruit tea drinks (tried grape boom, yumberry and mango sago so far) are their strength. Today, I went in to see what new drinks they had and was intrigued by the new offering of a jasmine tea latte. They had a giant TV sized touch pad for ordering so everyone could watch as you browse the menu. Limited seating options and not as giant of a space as their other Flushing location. I loved the decor though, it was simplistic with lots of wood themes. There were no options for oat milk substitutions which is too bad but nothing a Lactaid couldn't fix. I carried the drink around for a while before I drank it and I forgot that they don't seal their drinks so it ended up spilling all over my bag. Just like Molly's, it came with one of those tiny coffee straws to savor the tea flavor. The jasmine tea flavor is definitely there but I'm not sure if it's because I didn't drink it right away or not but after a while, the flavor of the drink started to become bitter. So for this drink, instead of going with their recommended sugar level, it might be better to pick 100% sweetness.

Hey Tea is nothing special. Not sure what all the buzz is about. With an establishment like Hey Tea, you’d expect better service and management.

Like many customers who came in during the busy weekend, the staff and prep stations are disorganized. The orders are not prepared in order. Many customers have complained about missed orders, and not to mention they should not have done mobile orders ESPECIALLY on an absurdly busy grand opening week (unless you seriously planned it out). Also, why is the order queue/waitlist screen inside the cashier station? It should be outside by the waiting room for the customers to see when their order is being prepared and ready for pickup. Regardless, it doesn’t matter since they don’t even follow the order of when they are taken.

As for the drinks, there really isn’t anything special. I had to wait an hour for 2 drinks to arrive only to realize it’s just flavored slushies with fruit. If this is ā€œreal teaā€, then you need to reconsider your marketing and approach. Nothing about it tastes with...

The last time I had Hey Tea was five years ago, and I was once again impressed by their fruity drinks. I can totally relate why people are crazy over Hey Tea because it’s 100% living up to its hype.

They use actual fruits and fresh ingredients. The best thing is they now offer a frew upgrade to a 0 cal sweetener. More guilt-free.

Shout out to the efficiency of their new Flushing store. We visited in their grand opening week. We queued 20-30 min, but it only took them 5 min to prepare our drinks after placing the order!

*Coconut Mango Boom A drinkable mango dessert. It is beautifully layered with mango chunks, mango juice, mango purée, coconut milk, jasmine tea, jelly and sago. Every sip is bursting with mango flavor and chewiness from the toppings.

*Cheese Grape Boom It is curated with fresh grape juice, jelly, jasmine tea and topped with cheese foam. The grape slush is very refreshing and the fruity note tastes natural. We picked least sugar but found that it might taste even better...
