I had the worst shopping experiences at Badminton Gallery in Tangram, Flushing.
In the morning, I bought a new Yonex Astrox 99 racket and paid for stringing. When I went back in the afternoon to pick it up, I realized the staff had never mentioned any warranty. I asked about it, and they seemed confused — they called the boss, who just said, “There’s warranty,” but couldn’t explain the duration or coverage.
I later checked online and found that Yonex officially provides a one-year limited warranty in the U.S., yet the store never mentioned this, not even after I specifically asked. When I tried to get a clear answer, they became defensive and arrogant, repeatedly saying they were a “16-year Yonex dealer on the East Coast” and that “no one ever asked about warranty before.”
I told them this lack of clarity and professionalism made me uncomfortable and that I wanted to return the racket. They refused, saying, “It’s already strung, no return,” and the boss even told me, “Call the police if you’re not happy.” I was shocked — a store telling a customer to call the police over a simple warranty question is absurd.
Instead of taking responsibility, they accused me of having a “bad attitude.” Yes, I was anxious because I had already paid and just wanted a proper explanation. But as a 16-year authorized Yonex dealer, they should know and clearly explain the brand’s warranty policy — blaming the customer instead is completely unprofessional.
When I asked about the official Yonex racket cover (which should come with high-end models like Astrox 99), they said they had “run out” or “thrown them away.” I insisted on getting one, and the boss finally agreed to mail it to me. While I was writing my address, one of the employees started laughing at me. When I asked why, he said, “None of your business.” That was unbelievably rude.
Throughout the whole experience, their attitude was dismissive, arrogant, and disrespectful. They constantly hid behind their “16 years as a Yonex dealer” instead of acting professionally.
It’s unacceptable for an authorized Yonex retailer to have staff who don’t even understand Yonex’s warranty process, refuse to answer reasonable questions, and mock customers for simply asking for fairness.
I strongly recommend avoiding this store. Buy from an official Yonex retailer that provides accurate information, professionalism, and basic respect. Badminton Gallery may claim to be a 16-year Yonex dealer, but their attitude, transparency, and customer service are far below what that title...
