In one week, I attended two major events at two different venues. Hudson Mercantile was the best venue out of the two. Here's why:
Space: The outside if unassuming, but once you go inside, you see each floor is one big open space. The building has several floors with fast elevators that take you between the floors. True to a NYC building, there's an amazing rooftop at the top making for a great cocktail reception space.
Food: Every meal was amazing starting with a feast of sliders. There were beef, crab, tofu, any type of slider for every diet and preference. Snacks were changed throughout the event from a pretzel wall to a donut wall. Better for you options included veggies and a pickle jar. The rooftop reception had bite sized appetizers from small hamburgers in a fancy black box to kebabs. Everything was so good! They also provided quality coffee throughout and Coca-Cola products.
Service: The staff clearly take their jobs seriously. They are hard working, not intrusive, and run the event so well.
Location: It's just south of Hell's Kitchen close to the Hudson River. Easy to walk to and/or take the subway.
Vibes: It's an industrial design with lots of open pipes, etc. It's very Instagram worthy!

Read moreI really love this space. It has multiple floors all with that inexpensive areas to set up bars seating standing room music all kinds of things. The best thing that I experienced there was a Thomas Preti catering event. It was fantastic, so much food being passed around and each floor with its own distinct theme. Another really cool part about this space is the rooftop area with a really nice view of the Hudson as well as the rest of New York City.
I was also really impressed by the acoustics in the space. The live band on the second floor sounded hardly distorted at all and had great reverberation. It was really good to see the crowd get up and dance to really good music. I would love to come here for another event I'll keep...
Read moreWent here for a business conference... nice location, about a block from the Javit's Center. BEAUTIFUL roof deck view, seems to make a very nice place for catered lunch or evening drinks. Would not recommend during the day as the sun kills you. Was actually a mild day, but the roof felt like it was 1,000 degrees.
The building itself isn't the best for a conference or seminar. Its OKAY for a lecture, but there are beams and other obstructions... but breakout sessions were really tough. There aren't really separate rooms, so difficult to...
