It breaks my heart to really write this review this evening on Mother’s Day as I go back uptown with my partner’s family. Tonight was supposed to be a beautiful dinner where we got to take my mother in law out for dinner to celebrate her. I couldn’t tell you how it was when I got in there because nobody greeted me. I walked directly past to the bar to greet my mother in law at the bar since she was sitting there waiting for all of us to arrive for our 6pm reservation. I guess everything seemed ok even though the server was not very friendly to us at all. I mean no conversation at all. It sucks to have to explain how we noticed that race played a part here because our server was white and we are a group of people of color. Let me note that also the host at the front was a person of color so this is when we get very confused as to why we were treated differently than the other tables. There were about 4-5 other tables that had white customers. As we’re talking having dinner, the server is right behind us having a conversation with an all white table and offers a complimentary drink. My mother in law sadly heard it and felt a way about it. Especially since he hadn’t been offered anything by the server. I want to add as we were about to leave the restaurant, he offered another white table a complimentary drink. I want to make it very clear that we were not expecting anything complimentary but being that it’s Mother’s Day imagine how my mother in law felt. Anyways, the whole 2 hours we spent there, our server checked in on those tables many times and never on us, a group of 6 who was clearly spending a lot of money this evening. The only time that our server came to our table was when we called him and this was like we had to really call on him. He would check on the tables by us and literally walk past, it was honestly sad. To be honest, this is the first time I don’t even know what my server’s name was. So disappointing. I honestly was considering to come back with just my partner and I but now I don’t think that would be possible after the way his family was treated.
Treat all your customers the same, no matter the race. You’d be surprised how being kind to people can go a long way. Hopefully nobody else has experienced this, I didn’t even check the other reviews but I will make sure to do so after this.
Just do better. ☹️
Had to come back on and move to 1 star. My partner is just so hurt that other woman got complimentary mothers days drinks and his mother wasn’t offered one. He said we will 100% never step foot back in that restaurant. Spent $500 in a place we weren’t...

Read moreNizuc, a newcomer on the scene adjacent to Hudson Yards and Hell's Kitchen, promises upscale Mexican-style cuisine and, has fully delivered. Coming in early on a Saturday evening just after 5pm, it was fairly empty but filled up quickly while we were there, bar and dining room alike.
While not cheap, we found that everything we ordered was truly great: from drinks and appetizers to main, sides, and desserts.
Classic margaritas are made boozy and balanced, with a choice of regular salt, spicy salt, or gusano salt (worms, yes worms) - we tried the gusano it was a really nice finish on the marg.
For food, we got two apps and an entree to share - however, it's important to note that they brought everything out together. So, I'd be sure to request if you want anything "out first." But otherwise, the tuna tostada and whitefish flautas were made so well , and the carne asada - which came out medium rare - was tender and melted in your mouth , seasoned perfectly.
We also got the side of hongos, a fantastic complement to the meal, especially since we needed a few more veggies.
Then, when we thought it couldn't get any better, we checked out the dessert menu and landed on the tiranizuc, which is a tres leches cake made in the style of tiramisu. This was mashup of a dessert I never knew I needed in my life and probably one of the best tres leches cake and best tiramisu I've ever had.
While it's definitely a treat as prices are a little higher than some of the other spots in Hell's Kitchen - don't walk, but run to Nizuc to check them out soon as I'm sure in time, it will become a very, very popular spot in the...
