Mango Mango Dessert - Long Island City — Restaurant in New York

I used to be a regular customer at Mango Mango until a recent experience with their waffle left me quite disappointed. Typically, I enjoy dining in and ordering a boba with an ice cream waffle, which consistently tastes and looks great when I dine in-person.

However, on December 10th, I decided to order the ice cream waffle to go. We went there, and picked up the food. When I got home and opened the box, I was surprised to find that the waffle appeared black-ish and really soggy, as if it were not freshly made. Because of this, I called the store to request a refund and offered to send a picture as proof of its condition.

The staff insisted that I come into the store to return the food in order to receive a refund. Unfortunately, this happened during a heavy rain around 8:30 pm on that day, making the trip incovenient considering walking there for a 10min and come back. They mentioned that if I had ordered through a delivery service like Uber Eats, I could have received a refund without returning to the store. However, since I had walked in to order for pickup, I was told I had to make the trip back to the store with the food.

This experience has left me with a negative impression, and I would caution others against choosing the pickup option for their waffles or crepes. It's frustrating that even if the food looks obviously abnormal, obtaining a refund requires an inconvenient return trip to the store. This situation could have easily been avoided if the staff had checked the food before packing, especially considering its abnormal appearance to a customer ordering the waffle. I started coming here to get dessert on my cheat days but the service has gotten HORRIBLE and the food has gotten disgusting. I found a long hair in my dessert waffle sandwich and almost vomited and I didn’t trip I just took the refund and saw it as a mistake. But last night right before they closed I ordered another waffle sandwich and the waffles was soggy like it was dropped in hot water and the ice cream had chunks of something I had to spit out. This lady in the photo was EXTREMELY RUDE and aggressive when I came back after I showed the guy right after I ordered my food and returned the nasty waffle, he said he’d refund the whole meal but they already closed the register for the night. This lady was yelling and asked for my I.D as if I was trying to steal or something. I do feel discriminated against because of the unnecessary rudeness but I WILL NEVER COME BACK TO THIS RESTAURANT AND I DONT RECOMMEND ANYONE TO EAT HERE. They are already overpriced and greedy people and the food and service is gross. Do yourself a favor and spend your money where you’re appreciated as a customer and the food is...

I really enjoy the crepe cakes here with everything else being okay to good for me. Nothing bad but nothing incredible. Again, the crepe cakes is why I really come here for. The customer service isn't bad but sometimes the staff don't seem to be on top of things. And its not dirty or unsanitary at this establishment but they could be on top of the cleaning a little more.

I want to give a special shoutout to a nice woman named Katie who was exceptional and went above and beyond to make sure we knew what we were getting and made sure the tables were clean. She even ran outside to tell me that I gave her too much money on the tip and that they messed up with the check. She didn't have to do that but little things like that are something I truly appreciate. So many blessings to her and if you see her be nice to her!

Otherwise, I do enjoy this place and want to see it thrive! Its a nice spot with yummy treat with the crepe cakes just melting...
