NEW BEST CUT HAIR SALON — Attraction in New York

I’m extremely disappointed with my recent experience at the salon. I went in with a friend for a simple color treatment—no bleach, nothing extreme—and paid $150, expecting a boost in my look. Instead, my hair has never felt so rough, unhealthy, and damaged. The color treatment, which should have been gentle, left my hair in a state I couldn’t have imagined: brittle, frizzy, and completely lacking the natural shine I once had.

I trusted the salon with my hair, believing their expertise would deliver a beautiful, healthy result. Instead, I walked out feeling like I had been through a chemical disaster. My friend and I left with more than just a new color—we both ended up with hair that clearly needed extensive care to recover from the damage. I’m seriously questioning their techniques and the products they use.

Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this salon to anyone who values the health of their hair. Save your money and look for a place that truly understands how to care for hair rather than damaging it in the name of a “simple” color. Also the staff were so rudeee like...

I haven’t done anything to my hair (besides the yearly trim) in about two years now and wanted to refresh my balayage.

I had my first balayage done at Xcellent from my virgin black hair. Although the outcome was ok, I didn’t like how they teased my hair and then aggressive brush out the knots while my hair was wet. Not to mention $$$$$

A friend recommended this spot, and I figured I give it a try. Sam worked with me to decide which color would be best for me and I was very happy with the results. I was always debating whether I want my safe brown caramel color or go lighter. Sam went with the lighter color and it turned out great.

One star off for getting everything wet. One of his team member was washing my hair and forgot to put a towel around my neck while washing my hair so the back of my shirt was soaked. It was also raining and the ceiling was leaking by the front where my coat was hanging so the arm sleeve also got completely soaked…

Amanda did a fantastic job dyeing my hair! It's exactly the color I was looking for! The whole process took 2.5 hours from coloring, washing, to blow drying and cutting my hair~ The last time I got my hair dyed in the salon was in 2019 so I had many concerns, but Amanda is super knowledgeable and answered all my questions patiently. Clearly, she knows what she's doing and has been in the industry for many years! I didn't want to bleach my hair but wanted it to look lighter and shorter with layering, but I was worried I might not see any changes in my hair color. However, Amanda was like no worries she won't charge me a cent if I don't see any difference, so I was assured! Afterwards, Lan started cutting my hair and took his time. And it turned to be exactly what I wanted. This place is also cheaper than many salons in flushing, but it is truly a hidden gem in Elmhurst. I only came here for a haircut with my sister before, but this time Amanda and Lan really impressed me!...
