I never write reviews, but I’m so upset by my experience that I need to voice my honest opinion.
I have no idea why this place is so highly rated. Could be that it is good for color treatment or perms, but one of the worst haircut experiences I’ve ever had. For the record, I’m a 33 yo Asian who speaks their language.
I came in for a women’s haircut. Nothing fancy, just cut about 3 inches. No change to hairstyle.
Frankly I don’t mind my 30 min wait because that’s out of their control. I certainly wouldn’t want them to rush other peoples hair styling, so that’s not a problem for me.
What I did have a problem with:
I got serviced by 3 different people: 1 for wash, 1 for dry, 1 for cut. Benefit of the doubt says this could be to keep things moving or be more efficient. Honestly I think this is to get as much tip out of you as possible. There is no way one person cannot handle all those tasks. I did not enjoy any of the 3 services.
Wash: I was lead to the back but whoops, there was no sink available. Had to stand awkwardly for 10 mins. Once settled, she got so much water in my ears and face every time my hair was rinsed. I’ve never had such a poor wash, and I don’t even have high expectations for massaging, etc. She was clearly rushing and I did not feel relaxed at all. She attempted to dry my hair and told me to stand, but it was dripping wet over my back. She made me sit on a dirty chair covered in someone else’s hair.
3: Dry: As soon as the man came over, he commented on how thin and sparse my hair was in a judgmental tone. Asked if I tie my hair up too often, which I said no. He made a “tsk” sound like he was sorry for me, how tragic I didn’t have much hair. I’m very self conscious about my hair, as thinning hair seems to run on my mother’s side of the family. I have been trying to mediate this over the past year with all sorts of home treatments, so these comments were definitely hurtful and unwarranted.
Cut: As soon as this second man came, he made the exact same comments. “Wow, your hair is very thin! There is so little of it. Your hair must fall pretty often, right?” I was angry at this point, but I did not want to cause a scene. I just wanted to leave as soon as possible. He spent like 3-5 minutes TOPS cutting my hair, and that was it. I could have cut this myself at home. It took me 45 minutes to reach this stage yet he couldn’t afford more than 5 minutes for the actual cut. Mind you, my last hair salon (sadly closed) spends at least 30-45 minutes cutting my hair with great care. So it definitely isn’t a matter of my thin hair.
In my 33 years on this earth, no hair stylist has ever commented on my hair in such a judgmental and negative tone. I came here for a haircut, not to be judged. They didn’t even offer practical solutions or try to sell any of their special products to stop hair thinning. It was literally just hurtful comments for no reason, period.
I was in tears after I left. I regret coming here. They made me feel so ugly and I would never wish this feeling on...
Read moreI wish I could give this place no stars. I am so upset about the haircut I received yesterday I can’t even sleep. If you’re a woman, DO NOT cut your hair with the male stylist that is NOT Raymond. I didn’t even catch his name but I have gotten many bad haircuts in my lifetime (so I don’t do it often anymore) and this one takes the cake 100%.
I had hair up to my lower waist that I’d been growing out for 1.5 years. I didn’t ask for anything fancy, just a 2-3 inch trim and for my hair to be re-layered with long layers. I left missing 7 inches of hair that now doesn’t go past my chest and choppy layers that look like a child randomly took scissors to my head. I told him I wanted more volume and his idea of achieving that was to make me look like I have a mullet. I don’t know that this man has ever cut layers before in his life. My “layers” have no transition between them and appear random. If I try to hide this horrendous haircut by putting my hair in a ponytail, you can clearly see large gaps in the layers of my hair. I very clearly expressed that I had been growing out my hair for a long time and that I preferred my hair long and he told me not to worry and then did this. I can’t help feeling like this is some sick joke- like did I wrong you in some way?
I noticed even as he was layering my hair that he had some odd technique and that it even SEEMED random the way he was layering but figured he was the expert. He also didn’t show me the back of my hair with a mirror when he was done like they usually do (maybe on purpose because he knew he massacred my hair?), so aside from the obvious short length I did NOT ask for, I didn’t realize how much he had ruined my hair until after I left. Even more upsetting that the cost of the wash and cut is so cheap, I typically tip 50-60% on the service and he didn’t even deserve it.
I have recommended this place to many people in the past but I truly don’t know if I can ever bring myself to come back to this place, even if I were to have someone else take care of me. My hair will now probably take another 2+ years to...
Read moreI actually decided to try this salon out after seeing that their ratings were pretty good, and reading on Yelp, that they do the magic sleek straightening treatment. I ended up coming here a total of two times within 3 days. The first day I came a little late on a Thursday, so I decided to just get a wash, cut and blow, and then ask about the treatment. Like other hair salon, the hair washer washes ur hair, u go get ur hair dried and cut and styled by one of their stylists. I didnt know anyone so I opted for a random stylist, who both cut and styled my hair exactly like I asked. I was satisfied with it at the end, considering how quick everything was (around 1 hr) for the price that I paid ($20).
The second time I came was two days later on a saturday. They were quite busy with a good number of people there getting different treatments/dye jobs and cuts. Everyone was busy doing their things but the stylist, who did my hair the other day, noticed me and asked me about the purpose of my visit. I told him, and he went to tell Joe (the main stylist and boss?), who then took a look at my hair and gave me a breakdown on what to expect and the pricing for the treatment (which was $250 for the treatment, a magic sleek shampoo and the conditioner). Everyone was very nice throughout the process of the treatment, and everything went well, despite the few times I was accidentally burned by the flat iron during the setting step. The overall magic sleek treatment took around 3 hrs to finish, which wasn't bad at all. I am overall very happy with the results, considering how I have thick and messy wavy hair. Im glad I decided to try this salon out and do the treatment here. 🤗
