This review comes from a former loyal client (2015-2018). Why former? It's because neither my friends nor I will set foot in this place again. Today we decided to revisit this place. The waiting time was not too bad. Now, my friend brought a case of very small bottles of Stella Artois beer. As soon as they waiters proceeded to sit us, they started making loud warnings - "1 hour, 1 hour, don't forget you're here for only 1 hour." OK, that was like a foreshadowing of the things to come next. Anyways, we proceeded to eat. Sushi just couldn't stick it to the rice and fell apart, which is a sign of a bad chef, but I ate it anyway because taste-wise it was actually not that bad. Then all the trouble started. My friends filled out a couple of menus and none of the food was brought. An angry waitress came over and told us that is was because we were wasting paper by filling out menus individually and should order everything on one menu. Whoa, I haven't encountered that kind of level of cheapness anywhere yet, as I clearly remember this NOT ever being an issue in my days. Moving on, the check was placed on our table at precisely 1:00 hour, while we still had just a couple of small things on order. Now, nobody in their mind kicks out three clients right away because of 4 appetizers in the making. Here's where I'm going with this - the temperature outside was rather hot, and there was not enough AC in the dining room. If anyone thinks that it's good for both the fish and the people, please raise your hand. Maybe it also explains why I started feeling sick and puked my guts out in the bathroom. Anyways. my friend asked the waitress to turn up the AC a bit, and the manager who stood by got into my friend's face, growling "you should've been out of here already." They brought out the appetizers. The same manager lashed out at my friend again "Don't talk - eat and go". This was all happening within 1:10 minutes of our visit there. We paid the bill, I left no tip and my friends told me they will never ever go to this place with me. I don't want to either. They must have switched owners or something because it was different! And now I officially give it LESS than 1 star. Beware! UPDATE: New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene contacted me on Yelp regarding the alleged food poisoning and a proper was filed against the...
Read moreThis place is an all you can eat (AYCE) sushi buffet. It was awesome! For starters, I had the dinner price (18.95) and a Sprite, with tax and tip, it came out to an even $25. The wait time was 15 minutes for a group of 4 around 7:30. The place is crowded and loud!!! Keep that in mind, the atmosphere is not for dates or meetings!! The restaurant was clean to my knowledge, as were the floors and tables. The plates the food came in were cleaned, and there is no presentation of the food. You get what you order. They have a rule: you must pay for any leftover food! I personally am okay with it, this way you don't waste food. But keep this in mind if you're going to go to this place to try new foods. If you don't like it, you're going to have to eat it anyways! Lastly, service was quick. The orders were filled correctly, and the sushi was good sushi. Not great sushi, not bad sushi either, but good average sushi. They're not stingy with the fish, but do put a little extra rice in the rolls. Recommendations: Philadelphia roll, clear soup, smoke salmon sushi, white tuna, tuna, salmon sushi, egg sushi, quail egg sushi, and tuna Naruto. Stuff you might want to stay away from: spring rolls, anything with roe, and anything with beef!
All in all, great place. Recommend for cheap sushi in an all you can eat fashion. Groups are okay but you might have some wait time. Luckily, many dessert and bubble tea places in the...
Read moreALL YOU CAN EAT SUSHI $17.95 and the sushi tastes just as good or even better than the best sushi restaurant you have been to in NYC. I swear to it!
Quality - Seriously, the sushi is all you can eat and the freshest quality I have eaten in NYC. The sushi restaurants that serve $20 rolls don't match Sake in terms of quality. Try it to believe it! Must try - Surfclams Sushi, Sampler Appetizer, White Tuna, Rainbow Roll, fried oysters, kani salad. Order on a menu- write the number of pieces you'd like next to the menu item (some dishes have a limit ie. Sashimi Appetizer and Sea Urchin). Order as many as you'd like, but remember you will need to finish it. There is an undisclosed fee for leftover food. Bring a ziplock bag in case you cannot finish. Gallon size. Not limited to sushi. Other dishes include appetizers, gyoza, edamame, shumai, stir-fry udon (who orders this?).
In Brooklyn, 30-45mins. from subway ride from Times Square. Well worth it. Long wait - We went at 6pm on a weekday and seated immediately. By 7 there was a line out the door. Kinda expected knowing how great this place is! Avoid the pink lady sushi unless you want your face...
