Silvercup Studios – Long Island City, NY – Extremely Disruptive to the Community
I truly wish I could write something positive, but unfortunately, my experience with Silvercup Studios as a Long Island City resident has been overwhelmingly negative — and I’m not even in the film industry. The problem isn’t about the movies or the actors; it’s about the complete disregard they show for the neighborhood they occupy. God forbid you park on the sidewalk in front of that building they will leave a note we're going to tell you a car and then they park in your spot on the sidewalk.
Silvercup has essentially monopolized Long Island City. They park their honeywagons, film trucks, staff vehicles, and equipment trailers all over public streets, often for years — not weeks or months — with no advance notice or consideration for local residents and businesses. They’ve purchased entire buildings and empty lots for their operations, yet continue to clog public streets rather than use their own properties for parking. As a result, finding parking has become nearly impossible unless you’re willing to shell out an extra $250+ per month for a private spot — and even then, availability is tight.
This ongoing occupation has decimated the business district, making it increasingly unfriendly for small businesses, residents, and visitors. The disruption they cause to daily life is immense. I didn’t even realize they were behind productions like The Deuce — had I known, I wouldn’t have supported it. Their productions may entertain audiences, but they come at a very real cost to those who live and work here.
Silvercup Studios needs to recognize that they share this neighborhood with actual residents and businesses. A little respect and consideration for the community that surrounds them would go a long way. Unfortunately, their current model shows little to no regard for anyone...

Will never forget running into great James Gandolfini in October of 2015! While located in the heart of LIC the Silvercup is a world of its own, mystically detached from everything else, with it's unique unforgettable atmosphere. Iconic location, must-see...
