I recently celebrated my birthday at The Newsroom in LIC, and I must say it was an absolutely delightful experience from start to finish. The impeccable customer service, exquisite food, and fabulous ambiance made it a celebration to remember.

I would not recommend coming as a group of four.

We arrived at 7, about 15 minutes before the performances started. The place was empty except for a few other tables. Our group, on a double date, was brought to one of the worst tables. Being that the place was empty, we asked if there was another table we could sit at. They told us no, claiming that they were fully booked so there was nothing they could do. This turned out not to be true-- they have a 90 min time limit, and when we left right at 8:30, there was still a row of empty tables right next to the acrobat ring. We could have sat there without making another group move.

So, where we were asked to stay in the corner had two seats facing the performance areas. I've included pictures of what those views were while the performers were on stage -- you can't see the singer at all. The two other seats faced the wall. Sitting there facing the wall, I found it hard to enjoy the performances at all, and when I did turn away from my friends, food, and drinks, the view was still poor.

The performers themselves were amazing, of course, just what you would expect from NYC. The acrobat and singer were both impressive. I liked the theater-y decor.

The food was also great. My group shared a bunch of dishes, so I tried the taquitos, ropa vieja croquettes, duck, steak, truffle fries, and salad. I enjoyed all of it!

The drinks were disappointing. We all tried different cocktails, and they were all weak and/or poorly balanced. My friend liked the matcha...
