Breakfast Menu:
I’m back at Gulp—this time to try their newly launched breakfast menu. I’ve seen so many people on social media raving about how authentic their Taiwanese breakfast is, and I had to try it for myself.
I got their popular breakfast items, but they still have hot plate noodles (鐵板麵), radish cakes (蘿蔔糕), and tea egg (茶葉蛋).
Available daily at both LIC and Jersey City locations. Breakfast menu: 8:30–11:30 am
*Taiwanese Omelet 招牌總匯蛋餅 A Taiwanese breakfast classic. It was wrapped with hashbrown, corn, cheese, and pork floss, served with a side of oyster sauce for dipping. Very filling and delicious. I only wish they could launch more different dan bing flavors in the future, like taro & pork floss, ham & cheese, or cheese and corn.
*Fan Tuan 飯糰 *Soy Milk 豆漿 Who else agrees that fan tuan and soy milk are the perfect breakfast duo? Their fan tuan was made with sticky rice, youtiao, pickled mustard greens, and pork floss. It instantly brought me back to those street carts in Taiwan, where a granny would handroll each one (those are much bigger in size, of course lol).
The soy milk was SO GOOD and very lightly sweetened that I would get it again.
*Pork Floss Egg Sandwich 肉鬆蛋三明治 It felt like eating three sandwiches at once, like a multiple choice quiz and you picked “all of the above”. The cucumber and pork floss combo was savory but still refreshing. You can also tell how fluffy the bread was.
Lunch/Dinner Menu:
Gulp is a Taiwanese diner next to 929 bar in Long Island City. The space is small but the ambiance is intimate with its bar table and friendly service.
It open till midnight on weekends, reminding me of night markets in Taiwan. A perfect spot to grab some late night bites with Taiwan beer or soft drinks.
*Gulp Combo — Lu Rou Fan * Gulp Combo — Beef Noodle Soup🌟 The carb options are solid here. The combo comes with popcorn chicken and stirred fried chicken. Lu rou fan has a good amount of braised ground pork to mix with the rice. Saucey and flavorful. They also add Sichuan peppercorn to add a hint of spice to the rice.
The braised beef shanks are incredibly tender and literally melt in our mouth. My friend found the broth of the beef noodle soup too spicy for her, so be careful if you have a low spice tolerance.
*Fried Platter It is an assortment of popcorn chicken, cuttlefish ball (花枝丸), string beans & bai ye tofu (百頁豆腐). Everything is well seasoned without being overly salty.
*Plum Seasoning Sweet Potato Fries🌟🌟 The sweetness of the sweet potato fries, coated with sour plum powder, makes it an ideal salty-sweet snack. The fries are perfectly crispy.
*Apple Cider, Root Beer Classic taiwanese soft drinks. Apple cider...

I tried the braised pork dry noodles and was thoroughly impressed with the portion size and flavor of my dish! The pork sauce was very flavorful without being salty and the chicken remained crispy the entire time. You have the option to add on a second bowl of pork noodles or a pork chop for only $3 which is a fantastic deal for the quality and quantity of the meal. The staff was attentive and kind and I was very satisfied with my in-person experience. I will definitely be back!!
Usually enjoy the beef noodle soup for takeout although lately I have noticed a decline in the portion sizes of their takeout orders. On one occasion, I was only given a few measly pieces of beef which was disappointing but did not think much of it. Today, I ordered the lu ro fan to-go and received an offensively small portion of pork. It was only enough to cover the outer surface of the pile of rice and the pork pieces were exceptionally small compared to what is shown in advertisements and from dine in photos. The flavors are good, I just wish I had more to enjoy. I would like to indulge in their bigger portions in person one day but after this experience I am afraid of risking another...
Read moreSaw somebody mention this store when it first opened online, and went to check it out today.
Was very disappointed, to review any Taiwanese food in NYC I need to lower my standard, I don't expect it to be authentic, I just want it to taste good.
Went in and talked to the young girl cashier and told her it's my first time and what does she recommend.
She is struggling with an answer for me, she's not rude, she is unchained to be a cashier, she can't really sell me why I should spend money here.
I ordered a popcorn chicken over rice since I don't want to risk my money on a more expensive item if they are not confident in recommending their own food.
The chicken doesn't taste marinated at all inside and outside. The site item of fried tofu and cabbage wasn't spectacle.
When I requested a receipt upon ordering, she said "oh whatever" not in a rude way, but she could simply say you could after you pressed the receipt button on the next menu on the screen.
Overall, do not come here, this place is probably doomed to fail from the get-go since they did not give me a good enough reason to spend here whereas I can spend my money in any nearby average restaurant on top of the expensive rent whatever they're...
