Wow! That's all I can say. After spending two weeks away on a business trip, I fell victim to the whims of New York City traffic. Somehow, the 2.5 hours I gave myself to make a 15 mile drive to LaGuardia proved to be... insubstantial, and as a result I missed my flight. After fighting with the airline to rebook my flight, scrambling to fins a hotel room at extremely short notice, and then a car I was stressed, exhausted, and quite frankly unhappy about having been told for 30 minutes by the airline that there was nothing to be done because the airline was not at fault for my having missed my flight.
I digress... Enter... SIXT. After searching fruitlessly thru my "approved" vendors list, and being told that there was basically no cars available to rent on that side of town, I came upon SIXT. I (honestly) had never heard of them before, but they were all I had left. I proceeded to reserve a car, ANY car and at last! They had one. I waited at the airport pickup, looking disheveled and downtrodden from the battles I had fought when out of the smog appeared my chariot (ok, "shuttle bus" but this is my story dang in). I was picked up and swept away to the promised land of available cars. Once dropped off, I proceeded inside and landed at the desk of one Mr. Alonso M. Now, listen to me... there is no way I can say enough to truly convey the courtesy and respect I was shown by Alonso. Once he pulled up my reservation, he informed me that the car the system had assigned me was not done being cleaned up.
In casual conversation, I had already detailed to him the frustrations I had faced that day, and when I tell you this man bent over backwards, sideways, and inside out to make sure I didn't have to sit there for the next hour while the car was washed, trust me... he did all that and more. He informed me that they did have one car that was ready, and I said "whatever it is, I'll take it"! Obviously, I held no ill will towards him or any of the staff there. After all, I had only reserved the car 30 minutes prior to my arrival. Alonso not only got me in a car super quickly, he upgraded me free of additional charge, to a brand spanking new BMW 5 series!
He went miles out of his way to make certain that my day of misfortune came to a screaming halt at his desk. I was loaded up and headed to my hotel before they even pulled the other car into the wash bay! Google only allows me to rate 5 stars, but I'd give this man and this company 100 stars if I could. He is a major asset to his company, and the combination of the two has earned them a customer for life.
From here on out, if they are available wherever the fates lead me next, I will only be using SIXT. The service may not be as good as Alonso M, but the fact that SIXT empowers their agents to take care of their customers in such a manner simply shows that they are more concerned about their customers experience than anything else. A+++++, 100 Stars, and SIXT if you're reading this, please pass my thanks and gratitude along to Alonso M. at the LaGuardia office. He's earned you all a very faithful and siatified customer! Thank you for turning around a horrible day, and making what remained of it an absolute joy!

Read moreI actually want to rate them a -5 star. This was a horrible experience! I booked a 7 passenger vehicle months before my trip to NY. I made the complete payment ahead of time and had everything set up so when I got to La guardia airport all I had to do was check in online and just pick up the car. Well, when I get there my sister, my new born child and my self get the shuttle and it takes us to the location to pick up the car. I did the checking online before we headed over there but when I get there I don’t see the car I had booked. I go to the front desk I tell the lady about my reservation so she then tells me that they do t have that car available this got me super mad because I had booked this months before the trip because I know how I am I don’t like leaving things last minute so I asked her what can we do about this she then tells me she can give me a BMW I said no that car it’s too small I’m Here on vacation to visit my sister and I need a 7 passenger vehicle which is what i had booked so then she tell me that she can give me a mini van but I’ll have to pay out of pocket almost $300 I told her you’re crazy if you think I’m going to pay an extra $300 when first of all I did this booking months ago paid almost $800 for the rental I come here yall don’t have my rental and on top of taht yall expect me to pay and extra $300 for a different car? This is yall fault and I’m not paying anything extra but I do need 7 passenger vehicle she says fine I’ll wave the $300. So we doing the paper work she says it’s $250 I said why I fully paid for the car she said well we need a $200 deposit that once you return the car we give back to you and $50 for the insureance tahy cover anything that happens to the car while you have it I said ok are you sure the $200 it’s just a hold she said yes so i paid the $250 and left. On the day of the return I fill up the gas tank head over there and return the car once again I ask about the deposit she said once they put the car in the system they will return the deposit and then depending on you bank it can take 24 to 48 hours I said ok and left. Well, one week after that I see that they charged me $45 and I didn’t get the deposit back so I call them spoke to a lady she said that the $45 dollar charge was for gas I said no mam I filled up the tank I have the receipt so they refunded that money back I asked about the deposit she said it depends on my bank it can take up to 72 hours I told her it’s been over a week so she said she send notice to the higher department and they will call me back. This was back in June and here we are August,22, and I haven’t gotten my deposit I called back to back and everyone including a “manager” keep giving me the run around. This experience was the worse I would not recommend them, they stole my money, they are unprofessional, and they are inconsiderate no one wants to take responsibility and do what’s right. I hope that the $200 they kept was worth loosing a client that travels 4 times a year and need a rental and loosing all of the people that I have actually referred and they have rented from you guys a few times. I returned car and spoke with each manager. She stated that they ask renters about car, otherwise they would not know of issues BUT what about regular maintenance!!! Anyway she fixed another issue. She apologized for the inconvenience and because I prepaid she could not take off any money. She removed smoking fee that was added to my credit card in Philadelphia, PA. I have never smoked and neither has my friend nor did the car ever smell like smoke! Smh This has been the worst experience in renting a car and my first time with SIXT.
What was written before meeting branch manager: The worker finished one customer then started texting on his phone. I had to get his attention so that he would help me. I paid for a BMW series 3 or similar and they gave me a C class Mercedes that had been scratched almost everywhere and the left passenger side bumper had been damaged. I asked the young man who showed me car what was year because the car had so much damage and he said 2024. I asked him had damage been documented because I didn’t want to be blamed for it. He assured me that all scratched and damage had been documented. The front rims were all dented up because customers had been hitting curve. I mean this car looked like crap. Once I got on 495 west at higher speeds, I realized that the car had absolutely no struts/shocks. Each time car hit bump it would pull to left or right. I called and was given an upgrade. I took car back to SIXT at Philadelphia. PA airport. Once there the guy checked car in. I forgot to fill so left to do so. When I returned they said that the damage on front passenger bumper was not in system and basically I had caused damage. For the next day I received messages regarding the damage that already existed which consisted of a claim asking when damage happened etc.
I explained to manager in Philadelphia (Ramon Ryan) that the damage existed. I was told by another employee that I should have taken photos of car. I’ve rented cars since I have rented cars off and on for 30 years and never had accident nor blamed for damage that already existed plus I’ve never driven a rental car that was in such bad condition. I was very upset BUT the manager in Philadelphia gave me an upgrade etc He emailed the branch manager at LaGuardia airport about issue. But this didn’t stop my being blamed. Finally I called the department that handled claims after receiving several emails. They dropped claim because somehow the damage had been reported etc. Be sure to take photos of car of renting from this facility. They are obviously not doing their job in documenting existing damage to vehicles. Plus they have horrible customer service! Renting from them was a nightmare!!
8/5/2024: Now getting till charges 2 months later when I had my own scanner for tolls in car!!! So still dealing with this bootleg company. It works all over East coast yet somehow I’m getting a bill from SIXT but never one when I’ve driven and used my own scanner in my personal car in...
