SkyFoods-Elmhurst — Attraction in New York

Racist and Disgraceful store! I went there to purchase meat about 20 mins before closing time. I noticed some of the meat was already covered so I asked very nicely if I was still able to purchase meat. In the nastiest attitude one of the Asian attendants behind the counter yelled at me to “Go Home”. In complete and utter disbelief, I asked him what he said to confirm I wasn’t hearing wrong. He then sucked his teeth at me and shook his head. As I walked away in pure embarrassment and feeling degraded they burst out laughing and kept repeating go home. Imagine being treated that way on Mothers Day of all days. Unfortunately the minute you walk into the store and you’re a person of color they lose all respect when they speak to you no matter how polite and friendly you are. And this is not the first time dealing with this type of behavior from this store. Horrible. 2 workers from the seafood department, around the area where they sold crabs and lobsters had a really bad attitude towards customers. They treated people differently somewhat like segregating. One of them claimed themselves to be the "real" manager, and they both yelled at me. Another worker came, and they all told me to get out of the supermarket. I had a full cart of supplies, and I didn't want to buy anything anymore. I was a regular here, and I used to spend $300 here, twice a week. I am a customer here, and I do not want to be mistreated, the workers from the seafood department should feel guilty. I hope that the store can solve this problem, as many people will be coming here in the future. For the people who don't speak mandarin, the elderly, and other customers, they should all be treated the same no matter what...

At least once a week, I will come here for Chinese vegetables and Chinese fruits to fill my grocery shopping for the week. The price is extremely reasonable and the iota is someone wide enough for you to push your shopping cart, but the cashiers of passing efficient in checkouts, and the food and vegetables are fresh. This is also a good place to pick up your fresh seafood. I like to get a center cut salmon to fry up during the week for my omega-3 fatty acid.
