This was my first—and sadly, likely my last—visit to this TJ Maxx location. While the store is bigger than the one in Rego Park, it’s extremely disorganized. Clothing racks are a mess, with sizes completely mixed up, making it frustrating to shop. What really ruined the experience was the behavior of one employee. An Asian middle age male staff member was sorting packages in a high-traffic area. I accidentally took his cart, thinking it was just left unattended, and he yelled at me loudly in front of other customers. I apologized, but it was humiliating. He also shouted at another woman for the same mistake. This kind of unprofessional and aggressive behavior is unacceptable. Customers come to shop, not to be yelled at. No surprise the area around him was chaotic—people probably just give up and toss things aside in frustration. I recommend going to the Rego Park location instead, where you’re treated with basic respect. Management here seriously needs to step in!

Visited June 2023: Very clean, organized TJ Maxx with 2 levels. The entire 2nd floor has women's clothing, accessories, and some snacks/drinks by the registers. There is a large, bright fitting room near the escalators and jewelry counter. They also sell luggage, gift bags, cards, women's tennis and golf outfits, sportswear, and a plethora of other things. This TJ Maxx is well-supplied and the racks are orderly. The staff is nice and polite. This is conveniently within 1 block of the Ditmars train station and is open until 9:30 pm on weekdays. **BONUS** -- There is a gym next door so it's perfect for anyone who forgot their gear OR someone looking to break-in their newly purchased sportswear. Same goes for the Orange Theory down the street!

Very well stocked in makeup, skin care products, and jewelry. Overall these were the only departments in the store that was well stocked. I have to admit I did miss the soaps that TJ Maxx usually has, as there were just a few in display. I would like to mention that Sabrina in these departments was extremely helpful, warm and professional. The ladies in the jewelry department were also very helpful, and courteous. I would definitely go back.

This company seems to have an issue with the people they hire. Either they hire anyone from the street or they do not educate their employees on how to treat and service customers. Most probably whoever reads this review can relate to feeling profiled when shopping in any of their stores. Seems like they profile anyone who is closely looking around at items and if you hang around an aisle for too long (isn’t this called shopping, yes?) as a professional I am trained to sense unusual activities around me and sensitive to others’ actions and motives. I can distinguish between doing your job and harassing a customer. So when you’re walking around me multiple times while I’m shopping for no apparent reason or standing and starring at my face while I’m standing at the fitting room waiting for a friend shows that you’re harassing me. Notice at this location there is a little guy who wears black and has a small camera hanging on his chest, (security?) I am a neighbor on the other side of Astoria Blvd but I frequently go into this location to either return or use their bathroom and every time I go in there this guy jumps out of no where and goes to the personnel at the fitting room and stands around looking as I’m looking around the aisles, weird huh, I thought I was being too sensitive however, one day I was walking in with stuff to return in my hand with a friend and I saw this guy standing outside the store talking to someone, as soon as I was walking in the door I noticed he rushed in after. So I we went up the escalator to the cashier as I approached the cashier, showed the invoice or order number from my email and as soon as I said I forgot the physical invoice, the employee looked at the items with a confused face. A woman standing close by approached (figured was the manager) while speaking to someone through her ear piece says, “sorry I can’t return cause you don’t have the invoice” my response: yes I can return because I have the order number and invoice in my email so go ahead and start the return. Her response ok let me see the email and so with confusion on her face she does the return with unease or attitude and says you have to have the invoice next time. I said no I do not have to have the physical invoice when I have the email. And the weirdest thing when I was initially speaking with the person at the cashier a black woman appeared out of nowhere and starting asking me questions about the items like: “aww nice jacket, what is the brand and those shoes are so nice” my reaction was who are you and why are you interrupting me! So I let this incident pass through but conclusion this location has shady employees. Be aware they harass and profile customers. Action will be taken against this location and especially the little...

This TJ Max is a glorified junk store. It is unattractive, disorganized, unappealing on any level and the customer service is about as bare bones as it can get.

I will specifically address my experience in the housewares/bedding/bath Department. I was looking for a new bathmat and living room curtains. The department itself was so disheveled that I asked for help from someone who was in the department. When I asked her about why it’s so difficult to find something because nothing seems organized, her response was to blame it on the customers because they are the ones that take things and move them around, making it impossible to keep things organized. Having worked in the housewares department of a large department store, I responded by saying that perhaps you need more people to do “recovery” and her response was that it would not do any good because of the “kind of customers“ that shop at this store. They take things off the shelf and they don’t care to put it back where it belongs. They just throw things back wherever they choose.

Although I agree that some of what she is saying is true, what I will say in defense of customers who care to do the right thing, is that recovery is something that needs to be ongoing throughout the day and specific people need to be assigned to this task all day long. She did not agree and said that the condition of the store at any given time is up to the customer because the employees at TJ Maxx do the best they can

That being said the rest of the store is not any better. I was looking for a particular item in clothing and asked for help to find the size I needed and I was met with a response something like “everything is sized on the racks you just have to go through them.“ Really?

To be perfectly honest, I would’ve been happy to see a more upscale store in our neighborhood. I truly wish it had been something else. Anything else would’ve been better...

My name is Jennifer i worked at this TJMaxx location for 3-4 weeks the manager Or assistant manager Valerie is a total asshole she’s rude to the workers yells complains and has the most negative energy ever after I spoke up to another manager about her performance and how she treats me as a individual I received only 2 days on the work schedule shortly after I reported her but really a total of 9 hours???? At the orientation they claim they offer 15-25 hours the most so I recently quit mainly because it’s pointless working two days under 15 hours but either way I spoke up for the people that are too Scared or Afraid to report the abuse and disrespect Valerie has caused I will also be contacting HR to report her performance there is no excuse for her behavior especially when I’m new to retail but not new to sales so that’s on them but good luck to any new employees I say watch out for Valerie also I guess reporting that your being disrespected as well is a problem since my hours were taken away immediately after that but I’m glad I spoke up regardless btw Valerie’s description is the loud fat black woman she’s known to be on the sales floor walking around yelling or being loud she can be kind to customers sometimes but she has this impression that she is above others because she has a history working for TJMaxx so she knows everything supposedly but she clearly doesn’t know how to talk to people especially people that work for the company she should be a correctional officer if anything she...
