I was looking to replace my matcha set and I wanted to purchase it at a shop rather than online. I saw that Kinka in the east village had what I needed. Got to meet with the owner, Ms. EunYoung and she was quite sweet and entertaining. I shared with her my experience with traditional matcha,, having experienced it many many years ago when I visited my classmate and his wife in Tokyo. Also I mentioned my selection of matcha which I order from overseas. She mentioned that there was a shortage ( from those who prefer to drink a matcha latte instead) and I said that probably doesnt affect me as i had stocked up on matcha during Black Friday last year and only consume a cup a day. I happened to walk by and noticed a sign for homemade kimchi—of course, I had to stop in and give it a try, and I’m so glad I did. You can really tell there’s a lot of care put into what they make.
On top of that, they host a wide variety of classes every month, which is such a unique touch. It’s not just a place to shop—it’s a place to connect, learn, and enjoy. Plenty of beautiful well-taken care of plants and flowers!! They have X'mas ornaments, witty and cards, ( Some are made by the owner!) quality candles and soaps, pottery items, chocolate, puzzles, etc...... Basically, a great store to pick up one of a kind products for anyone. Staff are so kind, attentive, and you can tell that they really put their hearts on each item there.
