Soooo....This is just my personal experience with this bike shop..I am VERY dissapointed and honestly surprised with my experience with this shop. I bought my newly built Trek Emonda bike to the Trek store after a horrible experience with another local shop. My local bike shop had replaced the small ring and the chain. After a few months the chain was skipping again. At this point I decided to bring it to Trek to get a professional fix . "Rob" looked at my bike and advised me there were several things that could be causing the chain to skip. I'm sorry but he was really clueless. I bought the bike another day and " Elena" the manager told me with exact certainty that it was the wrong size small chain ring. She told me that whoever built it put in the wrong chain ring teeth ratio, she was on point about this! . The ring was replaced but........as soon as I took my bike out the store the chain was loose.... but it still changed rings. I was surprised that they didn't take the time to test drive my bike...if they did they would've caught the problem. I decided to bring it back the next day since it was almost closing time. So here it goes....once Elena fixed the loose chain now the derailleur is not moving the chain again!! on top of that the shifter seemed hard. I had to press really hard to move the derailleur! what a headache!! then they tell me I need a new shifter! The shifter was working fine when I bought my bike in. mind you, my bike was build with NEW parts! now I paid $145 for the shifter plus labor. Elena was looking all over the country for a Trek store that had my shifter..she found one it Texas! I looked at Ebay and found brand new pairs of new shifters..at good prices. I didn't want to push the issue so I just paid for it. In retrospect I should have just taken my bike to a city shop and bought my own shifters...now for the new problem...there is a noise coming from somewhere when I pedal!..it wasn't making this noise initially so I asked them to look into it and apparently they didn't. Now my bike is at another shop as we speak for this new problem... bottom bracket noise..I will NEVER bring my bike to Trek shop F.H again! Rob is super nice but I'm sorry he is not a great mechanic. Elena is really nice too and I really hate to write negative reviews unless it is warranted . I wrote to "Claudia" at the shop concerning all my issues and she never responded back...(not good customer service). This has been a horrible,, horrible experience...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUpdate: I received a call from the manger and had a nice conversation in attempt to rectify the situation. Ultimately my buying experience here did not work out, hopefully it does for you.
I've been looking to upgrade my road bike for the past couple of weeks and Trek happens to be one of the manufactures that I was interested in. I did my research online and found the exact model and trim that I wanted.
I called Trek Forest Hills on a Friday afternoon and specified exactly which year/model/trim/size that I was interested in and wanted to schedule a test ride. The sales rep tells me to come in given that they have it in-stock and it is available for a test ride. I took off work early to visit their showroom and when I get there, the previous generation is rolled out for me⦠I have basically the same conversation with the sales rep and explained how I wanted to test ride the current generation as it is completely remodeled. The rep goes to the back and confirms that the bike is actually not built and it would be ready earliest by Sunday.
At this point I just figured it was a misunderstanding and I told them I will call to confirm that the bike will be ready before i come in again sometime during the week.
On Monday morning I call to confirm that the bike is built and ready for a test ride which the rep said it was. I arrive 30 minutes after the phone call and the same bike they wanted me to test-ride on Friday is rolled out.. now I'm having the same conversation 4 times (twice over the phone and twice in person) and went there two times for nothing. This whole ordeal was a HUGE waste of time.
Although the reps that i dealt with were apologetic and I felt that they were genuinely mistakes, something like this should not have happen let alone once but twice is unacceptable and extremely...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have been going to the store for about two years and have generally been impressed by the service and the fact that I havenāt been overcharged. Yesterday, I went in, and the person serving me told me that my bike was practically beyond repair. They went on to say that I would need an extreme tune-up, a new cartridge, a new chain, and a series of other replacement parts. This bike, which cost me about $700, would suddenly cost well over $300 to fix. I took the personās advice and scheduled an appointment for repair.
The following day, I went to get a second opinion and visited Spokesman Cycles on Myrtle Avenue. The technician at Spokesman took one look at my bicycle, gave it a tune-up repair in nine minutes, and charged me $18. I was out of there, and my bike was as good as new. I donāt quite understand how I went from being told that my bike would cost more than $300 to repair, to finding someone who was able to repair it in under 10 minutes for $18. I donāt know if Iāll go back to Trek. They seem to have replaced their staff with...
