I had the unfortunate experience of working with Davidâs Bridal for my wedding dress, and I feel compelled to share my concerns regarding the alterations department and the service I received. The only positive aspect of my experience was the assistance I received from Jordi. He helped me find the perfect dress and supported me through every step of the process, including my alteration appointments. His kindness and dedication made me feel beautiful throughout the entire journey. However, the rest of my experience was far from ideal. My dress was supposed to arrive in September, but I received it in July. When I tried on the size 16 dress, it zipped up and buttoned, but the last three buttons would not fasten. I brought the dress to the alterations department, where I was told by one of the staff members that I was âtoo big for the dressâ and would need to exchange it for a size 20. This didnât make sense to me, as only three buttons were the issue, but I trusted their expertise and agreed to the change. Once the size 20 dress arrived, I scheduled an alteration appointment. I expressed concerns about hemming, sleeve length, and the fit around my cleavage and body. By the second appointment, only the hemming had been completed, and my other concerns were not addressed. After waiting another month, I returned for a third appointment, just one month before my wedding. Upon arrival, I was told my dress was ready for pickup, despite not having any alterations completed. I refused to take the dress until I was satisfied with the fit. After some discussion, they discovered a tear in the back of my lace dress, which the alterations employee claimed was a manufacturing issue, but my bridesmaids and I were able to prove otherwise by comparing my dress to a similar one. Additionally, the issues with the fit around my cleavage and body remained unresolved. Despite this, the alterations manager insisted I return later in the day to have some adjustments made. When I returned, the tear was fixed, and the dress was taken in four inches on the sides, but the cleavage issue still wasnât addressed. The same alterations employee who had previously commented on my size told me there was nothing more that could be done, as it was âjust my body.â This comment, combined with her previous remarks, was deeply hurtful and left me in tears. At this point, I felt that I had been degraded and my body shamed throughout the process. After more back-and-forth, I was able to get some minor improvements, but it wasnât until my fourth appointment that I was finally happy with the dress, though there were still a few lingering issues. The entire alteration process ended up costing over $1,500, much more than necessary, considering the alterations departmentâs repeated mistakes and the unnecessary switch to a size 20 when the size 16 was almost perfect. Additionally, when my bridesmaids went to pick up their dresses, one noticed an oil stain on the front of her dress near the slit. While management acknowledged the mistake, they only offered $15 to cover dry cleaning costs, which I felt was inadequate. We requested that they fix the issue, and we are currently awaiting a resolution. Overall, my experience with Davidâs Bridal, particularly the alterations department, was a disappointment. From the lack of proper fitting to the insensitive comments from staff, I would not recommend the alterations department to anyone. This entire experience, especially as a bride, was deeply disheartening and frustrating. I expected a much higher level of professionalism and respect for my dress and body. The only positive experience I had was with Jordi at the beginning, and Iâm grateful for his help. However, I cannot recommend Davidâs Bridal based on the poor service and treatment I received throughout the rest...
Read moreMy experience with David's Bridal was going great until time to order my dress. I went in knowing I was a 16w. I had tried on other dresses in the same size and style and it fit perfectly. So I have picked out my dress, super excited and the sales lady asks me what size I was I told her and she goes oh no you need a size 18, I didn't feel good about it but went ahead and went with her suggestion since she is the professional. Ordered the dress April 16th was told dress would be here August 17th they would hold it until my alterations appointment August 23rd. Awesome, no issue at all with that. Fast forward to July 20th I get a call and an email that my dress came in almost a month early and I have 14 days to pick it up. Okay no big deal made a trip to okc and picked it up. Now on my alterations appointment August 23rd. Everyone I spoke to in the back in the alterations department absolutely friendly and nice. I get my dress on and it's not fitting the way it's supposed to. It's to big. I told the alterations lady about how the sales lady ordered a size bigger than I wanted, she said she would go ask the manager if we could get it in the size I had wanted before my wedding. The manager comes back to looks at the dress and she comes to the conclusion that I'm in between sizes even with this being a corset back, they're not able to get my dress in the color or size I want. So my only option is alterations. One person overheard the whole ordeal and said the sales associates do that all the time and they wished they would consult with the alterations department before ordering the bigger size. So the sweet alterations lady gets everything pinned where we wanted it and went over prices as we went. At the end she told me it would be 236 me and my best friend agreed that was a good price. We were taking it in a little on the bust and moving the eyelets on the corset panel, plus adding a bustle. Go to check out and now the price is $326 more than I expected. I was getting flustered, hot, and ready to leave after reviewing my receipt they had added the aisle ready package when I clearly stated I had my own steamer and would do that on my own. I wasn't told that each point on the bustle would be an additional 10 after 3 points so that ended up being 160. What rubbed me the wrong way the most was sneaking the aisle ready package in, I think this was because a different person checked me out. I was happy until it ended up being almost $100 more than I was told. Not to mention I'm getting these alterations because the incorrect size was chosen for me. If I could just review the alterations lady who helped me today it would be 5 stars.
Update, the store manager reached out to me the same day I posted this review and went over my experience with me. She refunded me the aisle ready package that I made clear in the beginning I didn't need. She heard me out about the sizing and it was appreciated. Thank you for reaching out and making it right. I also should have stayed and went over it but I was hot and getting hangry. I really look forward to trying my dress on after the...
Read moreJordan B was very nice and helpful with dress selection, constantly reassuring that itâs okay to be picky and narrow it down to the dress I want. He kept us laughing and comfortable and each dress he picked was beautiful. He even gave helpful suggestions and advice for alterations and things that can help for the big day, like a bridal buddy! Thank you so much for making my first visit memorable!
Edit (5/6/25): I had to edit my review, due to my recent experience with alterations. When I was picking up my dress after alterations, I felt rushed by the staff and prodded at without respect for my personal comfort/modesty. Not everyone is comfortable with physical touch without at least a heads up or some warningâI certainly wouldâve liked one before someone tried to stick their hands around my chest, even if they were checking the dress. I tried to smile through it and reasoned that theyâre busy, were probably stressed, and just trying to focus on getting tasks done. However, I realized when I got home that I was unable to comfortably put on my dress by myself and that the bodice felt tight and hard to breathe and move around in. For how much I paid, I am pretty disappointed for the lack of attention and making sure the dress was fine. My body has not significantly changed from the time I arranged alterations to when I picked up my dress. I still weigh the same and look the same. I wish I had spoken up then. For all brides new to the bridal scene, I recommend getting your alterations elsewhere. It can be intimidating standing up for what you want and not knowing whatâs best, but donât be afraid to search out information and not just from one source.
Edit (5/23/25): The manager of the alterations department saw my review and gave me a phone call. I was surprised but touched as she apologized for the experience and asked if I was comfortable coming back to see what could be fixed. One of the alterations coming back was done free, and a few others done at the lowest price point. Regan was gentle, patient, and kind, making for a much better experience. I am thankful you called and I appreciate the patience and gentleness you showed me when...
