Somehow I was talked in to doing the swing with my 10 year old daughter. While my husband would do the free fall with her. They went first and came off of it terrified but smiling. Then it was my turn. I was so nervous on the ride up. Then with wobbly legs I had to walk to the seat used for the swing. My heart was racing and my eyes were wide as I stared out at the Great Smokey Mountains and then looked down to find my husband giving a thumbs up. The ground was so very far away and I was powerless to stop what was about to happen. After we were buckled in, my daughter and I began to speak positive affirmations, that this was going to be fun. Then the seats began to tilt forward forcing me to look down at the ground wondering why the heck I agreed to do something like this being that I am terrified of heights. We started our conversation again on how this was going to be great and before I could complete my sentence there was a snapping sound as the seat was released and we began to swing rapidly forward. I screamed blood murder and then realized it wasn’t as frightening as I had expected. My emotions changed from fear to utter delight as I found myself swinging back and forward as in a regular swing but on a much larger scale. I even raised up my hands roller coaster style as we enjoyed the remainder of the ride. I realized the scariest parts were going up and then the dangling before it was released but after those things are past, it is a thrilling and fun ride. My legs were still shaky when I reached the ground again but I would recommend it for any...
Read moreWe paid $80 for my son and I to go on the Mountain Monster Swing. When we came down to view and purchase our two videos, we were informed our videos didn’t upload to their system. They told us to come back later to check to see if they’d uploaded yet. We came back to find out they still hadn’t uploaded and they told there was nothing they could do. We asked to get a re-ride because we definitely wanted to purchase our videos. They told us we couldn’t get a re-ride because the videos were only $15 each but the swing ride is $40. I explained that I watched and heard him give two different sets of riders a FREE second ride just because they weren’t busy. By the way, when I was asking for our re-ride so we could get videos, there had been nobody to go for over 30 min while we were watching and there were still no people in line to ride this ride behind us. Then he told us it didn’t matter because our reaction wouldn’t be the same. Seriously?! What the hell does that have to do with anything?! We’ve now been watching almost an hour as our sons have been shopping in a store right next to it, and they haven’t had one customer in almost an hour now. They offered to let us ride again for the generously discounted price of $40 for two though! Wow. What a bargain. Sure, we’ll spend another $40 so we can THEN spend more on our videos finally!🙄 Absolutely ridiculous. One of the best displays of outstanding customer service that I’ve seen after THEY screwed up. Bravo to Mountain...
Read moreI am not sure who was operating the rides on Aug. 20th, but whoever was, give. them. a. raise! A+ crew behind the booth and the panels!
Returned three nights in a row, and did all three rides two nights + the saddle sling on the 3rd. The guys on the 20th who rode with me, enjoyed my reaction, and nerded out with me were a good bunch of folks. Not only is this tower, IMHO, the late, great Stan Checketts' masterpiece, but the crew was amazing. Got to know them well enough over my 3 repeat visits that I was given a free ride on the saddle sling, which is my favorite of the three, and offered a free ride again for tomorrow if I showed up. As for the rides, like mentioned, masterpieces. The Monster Dive is absolutely terrifying, and - even after over 200 rollercoasters - the scariest ride I've ever done, and the Monster Launch saddle sling is possibly the greatest flatride ever made for serious ejector airtime. Not to mention the prices weren't super bad either. Could not have asked for a better experience!
If you're ever at Mountain Mile and looking to be scared half to death, and have a good time doing it, highly recommend!
Update: Just went and took them up on the offer of free rides, and had a good 15 minutes and 7-8 rides on the saddle sling. Again, cannot recommend this tower enough, fantastic and friendly people operating these attractions, and they're just as passionate about amusement...
