Listen to me very carefully. The owner of this establishment needs to be locked up for ripping people off. These tickets need to be refunded
My mother in law was trying to do something nice for us while we visited Gatlinburg. This cost her $400 for our group of 6. We were VERY skeptical of the location as it’s in a small shopping center but we tried to have an open mind. The entire night all of us kept saying “it can’t get any worse”. OH AND IT DID!
My first red flag was when the waiter took our drink orders and had to write down “water, sweet tea etc. on the craft paper that was on our table. Now all jokes aside the server was very friendly but I have never seen someone right down on your table the order in which the drinks should be placed. I do want to note that even with writing it down they still gave people the wrong drinks.
My 2nd red flag was at the very beginning.. one of the cast members said “if you leave us a 5 star review and show one of our waiters we will give you a raffle ticket to win a prize” (I guarantee you that prize that you could potentially win is a Hot wheels car and it’s probably not even a legitimate hot wheels car cause they can’t afford it. I mean at what place do they bribe you to leave a 5 star review? My Uber drivers back home don’t bribe me for a 5 star review..they just ask! This explains why they have a 4.4/5 star review.. because it’s watered down with in-genuine feedback.
My 3rd red flag - Right from the start you could tell that the play itself was no better than a middle school play. Our table could not help but to leave our mouth wide open in amazement (and not in the good way). Not to mention there were metal pillars throughout the venue that hinder your ability to actually see the play. As for the actors they legitimately did not have enough actors to play the needed parts so they used people from the nearby crowd to play along and read some lines. They had 2 actors play 2 different roles too! I did the math and guesstimated that they make about $4-5K per show (3 showtimes a day) for a daily total of $12k if not more! It was an evident that they do not reinvest ANY of this money back into their staff or venue. When you look at the pictures on the internet of Moonshine Murder.. be prepared to get catfished. Another comment that I read while I was at the show stated “their backdrop is something you can buy of Temu” let me tell ya… they weren’t lying!
My 4th red flag - As my group continued out of shock to be mouth breathers. One of us said “maybe the food is going to be good”. I PROMISE YOU. The food consist of a KFC thigh, instant potatoes right out the bag, canned corn, and some god awful make you want to call the police green beans. The desert was without a doubt in my mind a store bought cheesecake. That dinner probably cost them a total of $300 to feed the venue of 75 people. By this time I was beyond fed up. The show lasts for 2 hours. It was so bad I left 30 minutes before the show was over. My group even stayed just to see it through and they told me that they wished they walked out with me because it was that bad. I have never been the person to leave something early and/or leave a review. If I was in Gatlinburg for another day I would have sat outside and warned other customers prior to entry.
If you’ve made it this far please for the love of god just pay the extra $15-20 and go to Hatfield & McCoy or Dolly...
Read moreAn HONEST review!! (please read to the end) Great performance but the employees are overworked. They mentioned at the very end of the show that your servers only make money off of TIPS!! (This felt like a slap in the face for the amount of running around they do) So if you plan on booking dinner and a show, bring cash for your servers. We were at a dinner show and our poor waitress was nearly run ragged by the end of the night. The FOOD was just okay. The meat was too salty, the potatoes were bland, my bread roll was raw on the inside. Be prepared for CRAMPED quarters!! There's barely enough room for elbows. The dining room is so little that there was a time or two where the actors accidentally hit patrons while performing. That said, also consider that you might be sat across from a total stranger. I went with a friend and we were sat directly across from a couple at the same table. Needless to say it was VERY awkward. They do choose random people in the audience to play a part in the show so if you are UNCOMFORTABLE with that, just keep in mind that you might be picked and you can always say no. Despite all that, I can tell these people are doing what they LOVE and the act was very entertaining. Other than the odd heckler or two (which the actors are very quick and witty to respond, their improv is impressive) the story is a lot of FUN. The activities they give you to do were challenging but exciting. I would say this show isn't some Broadway performance, but that's not the point. This is a place for simple families to go and have a good laugh and enjoy the wonderful atmosphere these people create. It feels like the whole audience was laughing at the same inside joke even though we're all complete strangers. That's an AWESOME feeling. I would definitely tell anyone visiting to stop by and see these lovely folks in action. Thank you Great Smoky Mountain Murder Mystery for a...
Read moreExtremely disappointed. We saw the show, “Who Shot the Sheriff?” We were really looking forward to this because the theatre gets good Google reviews. First, the good: The food was awesome. No disappointment there. There was A LOT of great food (better than Dixie Stampede!) Our server was one of the best we’ve had anywhere. I wish I could remember her name. She said she’s been working there for a long time. Her hair is dark, short, and one side was longer than the other. Her name might have been Michelle. I’m so sorry I don’t remember. But, she rocked it! Now for the bad: We were taken to our seats by one of the actors from the show. I expressed concerned because we were at a high top along the wall which ended up to be furthest from the show. He assured us that there really wasn’t a bad seat in the house because the actors walked around the room. WRONG. The show took place ENTIRELY in the center of the room. They picked a few audience members to participate and of course, they too were in the center of the room. We absolutely could not hear the entire show. The microphones were too quiet and the actors said their lines waaaaaay too fast. My husband and I kept asking each other, “What did he/she say?” We could tell they did some ad libbing at times which is always funny, but we couldn’t hear them. It was a real disappointment. I know 2 stars is a low score, but we were there for the show. We were very pleasantly surprised by the great food. Otherwise this would have been a 1 star. We paid a lot of money for a show that we couldn’t hear… and no, we’re not hard of hearing. We hear just fine. Hopefully, the actors will slow down and...
