I usually shop at the San Jose location, where the staff is always very helpful and friendly. However, the cartridge I use is often sold out there. Tonight, I checked the Redwood City location and found it in stock, so I decided to order and pay online.

When I arrived to pick up my purchase, I realized I had forgotten my physical ID. I had a picture of it on my phone, but the security guard outside informed me that a physical ID was required. I have to say, the security guard was polite and professional, and he even called the store manager to see if they could assist me, given that I had come from far away and my purchase was already paid for.

Unfortunately, the store manager was neither helpful nor friendly. Instead of trying to assist, he simply stated that they could hold my purchase for 48 hours. While I completely understand the importance of rules and regulations, what I find upsetting is the lack of effort to resolve the situation. They have all my information in their system—my name, email, debit card details, and purchase history. I even showed them the picture of my ID, which they could have cross-referenced with their records.

Did they think I was underage? I’m 45 and probably look closer to 55! It’s puzzling to me why the manager couldn’t simply bring me my purchase or offer an alternative solution, such as delivery. Instead, he chose to stick to the rules without any attempt to be accommodating or hospitable.

I left feeling disappointed and unvalued as a loyal customer. While I respect the need for rules, I also believe in the importance of customer service. A little effort to help would have made all the difference. Instead, it felt like the satisfaction of following the rules was prioritized over the satisfaction...
