Our server was Marcos. This was our first time dining here as it had opened right before the pandemic shut everything down in Nevada earlier this year. They had a subsequent sink drainage issue that closed them down further.
So we were very excited tonight to finally be able to try them after so many months and given the fact Reno does not have a Brazilian steakhouse despite many deep pocketed casino owners in the area. It is also very refreshing to see a restaurant of this caliber open outside of a casino.
Overall the experience was very good, in these uncertain times where the Covif-19 pandemic is very serious, it was good to see the hostess taking temperatures at the door of each guest coming in and also ensuring each person entering had a mask on. Servers were gloved. We we're told we could take the mask off at our tables however if we got up to move about the restaurant, including going to the buffet, we would have to put our masks back on.
Service was above average, Marco did a great job presenting and pouring the wine and a female server helped with our drink order and checked in on us from time to time which was good because the servers were having to do double duty helping serve food at the salad bar to keep guests from helping themselves.
What kept this from being a higher rated experience was the fact that of the three gauchos (the guys who walk around with the meat and carve them at the table) two of them had their masks only covering their mouths for the majority of the time we were at the restaurant. That is equivalent to wearing a prophylactic with the end of it cut off.
There was also party of 12 who came in right behind us and they were wearing their masks to gain entry to the restaurant and that was the last time they put their masks on for the rest of the time they were in the restaurant, as if it were a political statement. They were up and about at the salad buffet line where the servers retrieved the food that each person wanted but none of the 12 were wearing their masks. Several of them walked directly past our table on their way to the restroom, breathing heavily without masks on.
There was another party of four off to the other side of the restaurant that did the same thing.... The manager was very diligent about wearing his mask the entire night, as was the bartender, as was Marcos, but the manager did not say anything to the guests getting up and moving about without their masks.
There was a larger crowd probably than what they would get on a Sunday night because the air outside was of poor quality due to the wildfires. It makes me hesitant to come back on a night I would suspect would be busy knowing that the restaurant staff/management does not enforce mask wearing once in the restaurant. If I was the owner of the restaurant, and invested the money that they clearly did, I would be cracking down hard on mask wearing as the business especially this fall and winter will depend on people feeling safe and secure dining here.
I want this restaurant to succeed, the food was very good, the concept is great and it was executed well except for the Covid-19 safety precautions which seem to be unevenly enforced after being seated. I actually stopped to share some of this with the hostess on the way out, told her I would be writing this review, and her mask was down below her nose and as I was talking she pulled it up when she realized what I was saying. She is the person who who took my temperature at the door.
It is well established that somebody not exhibiting a temperature or symptoms can still be a carrier of the virus can in fact infect others so it's important to wear masks throughout the restaurant with both guests and staff.
Our check was over $300 tonight for three people, we dine out regularly at this level, and we were checking it out as to whether to bring other friends back who only will go to places who take precautions seriously throughout the experience.
Also, we missed the fried plantains that are typical of a Brazilian...
Read moreThis is the type of place where you want to pace yourself. The tables are set with love and the service is outstanding. Their goal is to please you with their offerings.
It is set up as a two-course meal.
First they will invite you to the center Island bar. There's a mixture of hot food and cold food. You can enjoy things like cold cut meats like salami etc and a variety of cheeses like cheddar Swiss and Gouda, And there is a barrel of fresh parmesan. You can also enjoy things like Caesar salad chicken salad potato salad, cold things like that. And you can dress it up with things like fresh beats and tomatoes with onions etc. They also have hot selections like mushroom risotto, chicken stroganoff, black beans, and scalloped potatoes things of that nature. They also have deviled eggs as well as fruit salsas, and special sauces my favorite being their chimichurri.
The second course is the all you could eat meat. A word to the wise... They have a lot of meats to choose from and your stomach is only so big. Be sure to ask for your favorites! If it's your first time going and you don't know what your favorites are ask them to give you very tiny selections so that you can taste all of the things. As they're carving the meat away from the sticks you have little tongs that you can assist them to pull the meat away with.
Some of my favorites include the pork ribs, the beef ribs, the lamb chops, truly all of their lamb is exceptional! They have a garlic steak, ribeye, pecania steak, bacon wrapped filet mignon, and a variety of chickens like lemon pepper chicken, bacon wrapped chicken, I am sure I am not naming all of their meats but trust and believe it is plentiful and it is good. Do not be shy to turn down meats You have no interest in, do not be shy to ask for your favorite meats in particular. They are here to make you happy.
When you have feasted to your heart's content they will come around with a beautiful dessert tray. Those offerings are equally exceptional. Highly recommend their flan which they make in house as well as their creme brulee which they make in house. Their other desserts are not made in house but they are truly delicious. There was a really nice lemon shortbread cake that is served on a key lime sauce.
We also shared a bottle of wine, The petite serah! It's a medium body red wine, I love it because it's not too sweet I like my wines on the dryer side. But it's also not too dry It's like the Goldilocks of red wine just right.
They also offer a traditional Brazilian drinks made with cane sugar in a variety of fruit flavors like strawberry, raspberry, mango, passion fruit, and a few more flavors I simply cannot remember but they are all very tasty.
If you have been on the fence about giving them a try I highly recommend going here and experiencing it at least once in your life. You will be pampered and well cared for in...
Read moreAmazing atmosphere and delicious food. Very welcoming ambience. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and you can see why there was delays as to when the the restaurant will be open. Good thing comes to those wait is the first thing that comes to mind. Our reservation was at 8PM but we were not seated until 830 PM, so to start it was a little frustrating seeing walk ins getting seated before us. By the way it seems tables of two is the go! We were a party of 5. However, when we got to our table, we were greeted by Samantha (sorry if misspelled). She was awesome and was very attentive. All I can say is I quickly overcame the frustration within 10 seconds sitting at the table lol. I am very patient and it wasn't the end of the world. It's not the hostess or waitress fault, sometimes these things happen, and what can you do? The buffet style was delicious so that was a good indicator as to what is to come. It kept coming non stop and all fresh meats. DELICIOUS! Being Lebanese I do not mind my meat with blood and was pleased to see medium rare being served! Actually having the perfect cooking to whatever you prefer. (I have been to countless steakhouse and I have to order well done to get Medium Well..) The servers would tell you the meat and how cooked the meat is. Very quick and smooth and not good but great portions ( I kept on grabbing with tongues). My favorite thing was to start was some medium well Filet Mignon, and boy I knew I was in for a treat. I had the Top Sirloin, Bottom Sirloin, Ribeye, Filet Mignon with Bacon, Filet Mignon, and whatever else they were serving. Also was surprised to see Lamb Leg and Lamb being served! I tried everything and for sure my favorite was the Garlic Sauce Sirloin. Everything was amazing. Really nice where you do not have to wait to get what you want. The waitress kept the table with bread and topping off water and very attentive. Alos asked if any kind of meat was desired and was glad to place a order for us. That was very nice, and we are so glad for this place. When I was a kid there was place called Braza Grille where Black Bear Diner is now, and I was sad when they were shut down. We will definitely be back soon, and probably be regulars lol. Thank you to everyone there! We had an enjoyable time with great company. It's nice when your in good company and have a great place to go with it. Just go and try it, you will not be disappointed. They even had delicious tilapia at the salad bar buffet! If you don't like, then they're is something wrong with you. The only pictures I have is of the Dessert Tray and what I had selected (New York Cheesecake with Strawberry Topping, to die for). The food was so good and kept coming, I couldn't stop to...
