I've visited the Dali Museum twice and it's good for about 1-2 hours. Parking is tricky. The lot gets filled up quickly and costs $10. You then have to find a lot or a space on the street which can be difficult cause the Museum is located on Tampa Bay; which is full of tourists & located across from the Dali is The Performing Arts Center. If there is a performance, parking is really a challenge. The $24 admission seems a little pricey for the actual size of the Museum. I've gone when they have had a special Exhibit and I felt that the admission was worth the $24. However, when there are no special collections, one can tour the Museum in about 1 hour. A headset is included in the price. You can listen to what you want or move forward to the next exhibit. The Artist's Museum was opened January, 2011and offering an architecturally unique interior and exterior. You begin your tour on the 3rd floor via a staircase which replicates the inside of a Nautilus Sea Shell, an elevator is available for those who don't want to make the climb. On the 3rd floor; a "geometric" opening allows for natural sunlight to filter thru the Museum while offering views of Tampa Bay and the private Airport. Good photo opps here. If you're hungry the 1st Floor Cafe offers a contemporary menu. It's a charming place to hang out either inside or take a stroll outside to the Avant Garden and enjoy your lunch or cocktail...
Read moreIf I could give zero stars I would. Please note this review does not pertain to the art work. The entire walk through was mediocre and could be done in less than a hours time. On the way out through the gift shop you will see a classic Rolls Royce. As I was admiring and taking a video (which I caught the entire ordeal) my 6 y/o daughter whom was standing next to me reached out to touch the headlight and in that same moment a female cashier on the other side of the gift shop screamed out aggressively âDONâT TOUCH THATâ literally startling everyone around. Mortified, I kindly tried to apologize for my daughters gesture in which the cashier proceeded to scream at me to âcontrol my childâ and that she was calling security. In the end I tried to discuss the situation with a supervisor but seemed pointless because we were literally on our way out of the museum durning this entire scene. Needless to say I have zero desire to ever visit again. As a native to the area itâs pretty upsetting because we often go to the Mahaffey Theater right next door for...
Read moreThe building is beautiful and a great tribute to the artist. Take the headphones and audio self your (free) and go exploring. We spent nesrñy two hours there and could have spent more but we were tired. There was a guided tour but the guide was a bit boring so we split off early. It is amazing to see paintings that you have seen all of your life in person. It's the largest Dali collection outside of Spain. They have a permanent collection and we'll as a temporary one (that was pretty interesting): photos of Dali's...
