Hi! I would like to take a few minutes to give a huge shout out to Theresa Medina. She helped us select the center stone and then design the most gorgeous diamond Anniversary ring!
I lost my center stone out of my original wedding ring about 4 months ago. Of course, I was devastated! However, after 20 years of marriage my original setting was a bit dated. So, after much consideration and research, my husband agreed that we could upgrade to a more up to date wedding ring. Ultimately, I decided that I wanted a three stone, past, present, and future ring in a halo setting.
I then visited several reputable jewelers in San Antonio but no one had exactly what I was looking for. Even though Diamonds Direct did not have the setting I wanted in stock, Theresa was, by far, the most professional sales representative we met in all the establishments we visited. She spent a considerable amount of time explaining diamond grading and truly re-educating us on the process. During that initial visit, we did not feel pressured in any way to make a purchase. She knew and respected the fact that we were just beginning our search. The time she took with us to walk us through the science of gemology was impressive because she easily could have made a sale with someone else. Instead, she felt it was more important for us to understand every aspect of our investment rather than scoring a quick, high pressure sale.
My extensive search for the perfect ring included a visit with a wholesale jeweler recommended by a long time family friend who once owned a jewelry store in the area. I found a design I loved online and he said that he could have it custom made for me at wholesale cost.
This seemed like a reasonable option but I still preferred the professional treatment we received from Theresa. So, we went back to Diamonds Direct and showed Theresa my dream design. She then helped us select the perfect stone. Again, she could have delivered a more high pressure sales pitch to buy a bigger, more expensive stone, but she wanted to make sure we loved the stone we chose and that it met all of our expectations. In the end, we chose a stone that is excellent quality and well within our budget. The designer was also able to create my dream ring in less time than expected and it is perfectly proportioned to my hand! I was worried about the overall size of the ring because I hadn’t seen it in person, but he absolutely nailed it!
We were also able to stay within budget and the cost was in line with the wholesale jeweler’s quote! I thought we would pay at least 40% more going through Diamonds Direct at retail, so we were very pleasantly surprised with the final quote!
I am looking forward to more jewelry purchases from Theresa in the future as I trust her implicitly in these potential life long investment decisions. Diamonds Direct has a true “gem” in Theresa as a sales representative and jewelry expert. I highly recommend her and...
Read moreThis is the second Diamonds Direct my partner and I have visited, the first being the Austin location which was terrific. Hilda was the person who helped us at this location, and she wasn’t the most enthusiastic employee (in comparison to the employee at Austin) but we gave her the benefit of the doubt that she might have been tired. Anyways, we did find a ring we were interested in and saved it under our account to think about, in addition with two other rings in Austin — which Hilda did mention if we ever want to see all the rings in person, she just needs a 2 day notice so she can get the rings from Austin to her location.
We found time in our schedules to visit again and let them know almost a week in advance that we were gonna drive back up and wanted to have all the rings to view (for context, we live 2 hours away from San Antonio). An employee named Thad confirmed with us and told us that he will let Hilda know and she will reach out. First flag was that we had to follow-up multiple times to make sure the rings would be there as we’re making a long drive up, since Hilda didn’t reach out to us — only doing so after we reached out to Thad again on confirmation. Fast-forward to the day of, as we’ve already made the 2 hour drive up, Hilda calls us to tell us that the rings didn’t make it, blaming it on the “weather”, which didn’t make sense as she had plenty of notice ahead of time. We told her that everything was confirmed beforehand and we don’t understand why she would only tell us just hours before our appointment, knowing we had to make a long trip solely just to look at and purchase an engagement ring. What baffled us is that she told us she has pictures and videos of the rings that we can view or that we can just simply drive up to Austin to take a look at the other rings. Obviously, we weren’t happy as it seems like she was making this an “us” problem rather than hers. She told us she would call back to see what she could do, which she did about 10 minutes later with a completely new tune. I guess she finally realized that this was a mistake on her part and was now acting apologetic and was trying to remedy this since she “truly cares” for us. At this point, we had a sour taste in our mouths and canceled the appointment since there was no point in going anymore. With my partner being in healthcare and taking time out of his busy schedule to go out of town for the sole purpose to look at rings, we wasted time and energy and was just overall, a really...
Read moreSometimes 5 star reviews make me leary, like can this place really be that good?!? But oh am I so happy we chose to visit Diamonds Direct first!
Elliott and I made the trip over to Diamonds Direct a couple of weeks ago to look at rings. Both of us were novices when it came to diamonds, other than what we gathered from our google searches. We had no clue what to expect. However, from the moment we entered through the two sets of doors at their location at La Cantera, we knew we were in good hands.
Thankfully, we were set up with Art Drab. He helped make the process as fun and comfortable. He took us around the entire display taking his time to answer our questions and ask a list of his own. Truly, I had no idea what the heck I wanted, but after an hour of working with him, Elliott and I found our perfect ring! From the start he was aware of our budget, and helped us get the most bang for our buck.
And he wasn't done there. He gave us a good lesson on all the ins and outs of picking the diamond. I was such a newb that I didn't think about having to pick a diamond. I just thought it was what fit the setting. Boy was I wrong. Again, more time was spent looking at diamonds. Elliott and Art ended up going to the computer and punching in some parameters to find the perfect one. Turns out that particular diamond was in Jacksonville, FL. This was on a Thursday evening. So Friday morning they put in the order and had the diamond delivered to SA Saturday morning. Diamonds Direct had us come back out on Saturday so we could look at the diamond and sign off on it. Once we did that, they placed an order for the ring.
I don't think we ever imagined it being such a fun and memorable experience. With the help of Art, we went with a Sylvie Collection ring. I adore it so much. Only draw back was that I had to wait a couple of weeks for the ring to be made. But it was all worth it when I got my hands on it! Now I can't wait to see what it looks like with the band we also got from them.
To summarize, I couldn't recommend Diamonds Direct and especially Art Drab more. I'll forever remember this...
