This park is near 3 different water conditions. You've got the channel on one side where the bay opens to the ocean, the protected calm water of Mission Bay on the other, and beach access to the ocean is adjacent. There is a small playground and a bathroom with showers. The parking lot is pretty small, but if you can get a spot, the walk to the bay side beach with a kayak or paddle board is pretty manageable. Heading towards the beach to the ocean with that much cargo doesn't seem like a great plan as there is a much larger parking lot near there. Getting into this area is a pain as you're confined to a single boulevard with single lanes in either direction with a lot of stops. Popularity of the space could make it hard to distance from people on the weekend, though it is limited by the parking situation and locals favor the west facing beach on the ocean where the larger parking lot is. Families with small children seem to favor the east facing beach on the bay. Friday afternoon...

Good beach, but experienced the worst act of selfishness in my entire life here. A few years ago in winter, my brother and I were diving at the jetty during the night. When we finished the dive we found out the car battery died, so my father called AAA. This was around 20 mins before the parking was closed; it would take around the same time for AAA to arrive. We were still soaking wet and very cold with no dry clothes to change into. When the park employee came to close the gate, my father explained our situation, but the employee refused to listen and told us no exceptions. He didn't want to wait five minutes. He locked the gate and left. Immediately after, AAA arrived, but they were not able to cross the gate. I will never forget sitting in the car under my wet towel, painfully shivering through the...

Favorite spot to go with the family when we go to swim. We like the more calm Waters of the bay over the ocean, better with small kids. Surprisingly there is some fun snorkeling to do along the rocks. Garabaldi, eels, octopus, Sea Hares, and sting rays just to name some of the stuff we've see out there. It is true that Parking can be very tough on the weekends in the summertime. It stress me out, so we are always there by 9, and never have not found a spot. If you are trying to find a spot at 1pm on a hot summer weekend...good luck. It's the beach in San Diego, don't know what you were expecting.

It's so nice! We were there when it was low tide so we got to discover all kinds of sea life! I loved finding the sea snails! So beautiful! We got here around 9am and it was quite and then the homeless decide its time for them to take over. Where the heck are the police? We have got to fix the homeless problem we have in SD. We met people who are really into kayaking and running and fishing. Seemed like this area was well loved by many locals!

A great little park overlooking the gorgeous San Diego Bay! Ample parking. However, if you go on weekends, get there early; parking lot fills up very quickly. There's a small playground for the kiddos. The restrooms are clean and well-maintained. Police presence is constant, to ensure safety. Lots of benches and tucked away spots for awesome picnics or just a quick nap!
