I'll be honest...i don't remember much about this night, but what I do remember was is it a very low key spot for being where it is & a Saturday night (just what we wanted!), we were able to play music & the bartender made a delicious Jameson old fashioned.

This is low key bar with strong drinks and so- so Mexican food. You have to order food downstairs at a window. The down stairs bar is pretty dark and unwelcoming, the rooftop has a lot of direct sunlight. When we were there they were playing rock music.

Fantastic local dive bar. If you're into dive bars this is for you. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, limited beer list but good local brews, great food. Seriously one of the best fish tacos I've ever had! No vegetarian or vegan options.

We’re travelling through San Diego and wanted a beer. We walked in. Everyone went quiet. Bad choice of bar? Wasn’t sure I was going to stay but glad we did as everyone was really nice and friendly. Very old school feel with some well oiled seniors propping up the bar. Bar lady was particularly welcoming, getting us settled win a couple of cold IPA’s after shifting us from the seat where one of her regulars was about to spend his evening. I am used to more temporary joints and yet places like this make you feel at home and relaxed right off the bat....

Actually, South Mission Beach Grill is located in side and to the back of the word famous Pennant Bar!!! It's been around for ever, more then 30+ years. It immediately becomes your favorite Dive Bar filled with life long familiar faces and a closeness with everyone who goes there. Don't get me wrong the food at South Beach Grill is very good, love the kabobs and rice, but it makes it extra good because of where it's located. Amazing bar! Great atmosphere and incredible service! Was served by Ian and he was so good I made a point to come back and see him again. Certainly would recommend this bar to anyone who is coming to the area and if you come make sure to ask for Ian and have him make you his choice of drinks. One of the best bartenders I’ve encountered. Owners and managers don’t let this guy leave because he is amazing and his personality and service makes your bar stand out...
