I saw North Park Beer Company on a "Best Of" brewery list recently and since I already knew it was walking distance from where I was staying in San Diego for the weekend, I decided to finally try them out. I don't know for sure if they specialize in IPAs but it seems that way since there are so many offerings of that type. But I remember also seeing some stouts and pilsners. Along with that some non beer options such as hard kombuchas. I tried the HOP-FU and it was an enjoyable west coast IPA with the usual bitter and hoppy flavors so be warned if you have not yet tried this style of beer. There was about 20+ drink options so you should be able to find something you like. It's a nicely sized interior with a good amount of both inside and outside seating. I like how spacious the place is. It's the usual casual brewery vibe and we just sat ourselves at the bar. I found the bar itself, the overall shape of it a little odd and not as comfy as other bars I've been at. No issues with the service and the bartender was perfectly fine. I don't know specifics but they do serve food here and it's SD so you can feel feel free to bring you dog. No surprise, there is no parking lot, but it's not too difficult to find some nearby street parking and if you cannot find something that close you should be able to find parking adjacent to Balboa Park which is just a short walk away. I can see myself coming here again since I am a brewery fan and very much enjoy a strong cold beer. Cheers!

Came here for the first time a couple days ago for dinner and I really enjoyed it. They have a pretty good selection of food; burgers, fries, wings, etc. And as expected they also feature a great selection of beers and a few ciders. For food I got the MAC burger and my husband had the original smash burger. They both come with two smash patties and American cheese and a side of fries; only difference is that the original comes with onions as well. They were both really good, the burgers were juicy and were complemented very well by the potato buns. Overall good portions and great taste. I have to say though, my friend got the crispy Nashville hot chicken sando and that things was huge! It looked delicious and very appetizing. Our burgers looked like kids meals next to it! I’ll be ordering that the next time I go. For beers I had the Timber ales and Fidens imperial stout. It is a sweet stout that is coconut forward, but balanced well with a robust coffee and dark chocolate flavor profiles. I really enjoyed it! If you like stouts, this is definitely a must try. My husband had the Oddish wine cider with Cabernet franc grapes. The subtle fragrant and herbal profile of the cabaret franc grapes create a light bodied and refreshing cider that is really enjoyable. I highly recommend it if they have it available. Overall a great place to sit and chill on a Sunday afternoon!

I love having this Banker's Hill outpost of North Park Beer Company because unlike the original, this location feels as if it's meant for adults. At the very least, it's a much more mature crowd. If you like IPAs, this is a great destination. They also make incredible stouts, although they unfortunately rarely seem to have much of a selection in that department. The loaded fries were fantastic, perfectly cooked, staying crispy and not soggy. UPDATE: I can't tell if it's either bad luck or poor management, but I've had two disappointing experiences on my last two visits, one week apart. On the first, I had pre-purchased a four-pack online, and when I arrived for pickup the next day, the staff had sold my four-pack, which was apparently, the last one remaining for that beer. I was offered a refund or an opportunity to replace it with something else, but I was still unable to get the beer I had purchased in advance. Today, I ordered a half-pour of a beer and was charged for a full-pour. Of course, you never get to see your itemized receipt unless you get it emailed to you, so I saw this error well after I'd left. Like I said, maybe I've just been unlucky, but I wish the staff was a little more on top of their game.
