I enjoy the Ultra Star Cinema Mission Valley 7 Theaters, because they show a good selection of the best new movies just as soon as they are released from the studios. I am a devoted fan of SI-FY flicks - which have become extremely popular over the last few decades - and I can always count on them to shoulder the biggest box office favourites at reasonable prices. What makes their theaters so nice, is the fact that their screens seem bigger than than the type that you find at the large shopping center multiplexes where there are as many as 26 small theaters. The prices at this cinema are a bargin. The first matinee starts at 10:00 am and is priced at only $7 ; all other shows before 4:00pm are $9 and evening shows are $11. They also have the new "debox seats" for an additional $8 : these seats have been created to make you feel like you are an integral part every "action scene" within the movie that you are watching : These seats are reserved for special event The Star's staff is very cordial and you can also get a good craft beer or a glass of wine for a reasonable price - if you so choose - and relax before your upcoming show. I rarely imbibe however, the thought has crossed my mind? The manager, A.J. - whom I met - is a wonderful guy. If you plan on using you mobile device, DON'T. They have the same rules governing cell phones as all other threaters and theater goers need to turn their devices off once they're inside of the theater. One of the best movies that I saw was THOR : RAGNAROK and it WAS radical ; it had all the radical special effects which are what transport me to my own dimensional insight, as Marvel Comic's Production Company now totally dominates the adult "superhero/heroine" screen. I'm fact, if you "really pay attention to every single scene", you'll see STAN LEE - the major producer/ writer - do a very short "cameo performance" somewhere within every one of his movies ; it lasts maybe, less than one minute. The movie also embodied cryptic analogies involving the Christian gospel and the Hindu convictions ; both religious ideologies were clearly "pictured" and the hypothesis, concerning both of their doctrines, were clearly manifested within certain backdrops of certain frame congregants however, I am not at liberty to discuss these subjects with anyone, except the production crew. I've seen Star Wars, "The Last Jedi," (Spielburg's) "Ready Player One", (Marvel's) "Black Panther" and many others. Oh! What I wouldn't give to meet Stan Lee, George Lucas, Steven Spielberg,Seth McFarlane, & other SI-FI producers...

Not worth the 4$ you save compared to newer theaters like Arclight. Went to see Suicide Squad on a Monday night, got there about an hour early with plenty of time to get seated. Ended up sitting right in the middle of the theater in one of the "Dbox" seats. Here's where the 1 star review comes in. After being about 15 minutes into the actual movie, an usher comes in and clears the entire row of about 8 seats we were sitting in (along with 6 other patrons) and informs us all that these seats are reserved for the group she was bringing in...which of course means we would all have had to scatter to the remaining seats in the worst viewing parts of the theater, and no one would be able to sit together. Had I known or been informed that the seats we initially picked were reserved, we would have had plenty of time before to pick better seats that we would not have had to vacate after the movie had already started.
We then left the theater to go ask for a refund, which was promptly granted after explaining the situation to a manager, who didn't seem to particularly care that no one had informed any of his guests that certain seats were reserved. He apologized halfheartedly, but it was clearly more to get us to leave quickly and quietly than out of any real sincere regret that we had a poor experience. Having worked both Retail and Hospitality, this is usually the sign of a manager that has long since checked out of caring about his facility (you should always address guest concerns with empathy and understanding, let them know that such issues will be taken care of in the future, invite them back for a better second visit, and rather than simply offering their money back you should always give the option of offering tickets for another showing, etc.) I know how hard and thankless and soul crushing hospitality can be, but they pay me to show up and be present and be helpful and it is not too much to ask for that same attitude out of the people who are helping me when it's my turn to be the guest.
Other small issues would be quality of their beer (cool that they serve it but my Cali Creamin tasted old and flat) and several staff members having inappropriate conversations for an extended period in clear earshot of their guests.
Better to spend your money and night out at the theaters in Mission/Fashion and at least have food and drinks nearby, or drop some money and just go to the Lot...
Read moreThis is a good place to go to. Sundays for students (No matter the grade, just bring ID ... hint hint college students in your thirties or fourties...) there is a $15 one movie ticket and unending refillable popcorn and soda. Tuesdays are my favorite, $5 movie ticket. Then I buy a $6 kids popcorn pack; just enough popcorn to satisfy, a soda, and a fruity candy: nom. If you go all the time, and I keep forgetting to do this... get a $30 all year popcorn bucket , there is an all year soda cup as well, but I can not remember how much that is. Bring the bucket, get it filled. Happy dance
Downside, they only serve pepsi products. :( :(
But, they have craft beer, delicious paninis, and other tasty foods. I keep getting the Kevin Bacon, oh lordy!
The seats are stadium, leather, couple seats... mostly reclining. But, the there are a couple random dead seats. :( Otherwise, no assigned seating, so... move to something that does recline. Generally there is a low attendance (when I go) that that is never an issue.
Sound is pretty good, and picture never seems to have issue. (Framed nicely.)
Not to forget the staff, they are super friendly and kind.
I say, go! Maybe I will see...
