I placed an online order for pick-up at the La Jolla store that contained 4 packages of Tate's Chocolate Chip Cookies. I picked up my order today, and, fortunately, I examined the packages when I got in my car. All packages had expired expiration dates, and the one package was open! I went back into the store, no one was waiting in line, so I told the clerk. She said she would go get me replacements. In the meantime, 3 people came to the checkout line. She asked me if it would be alright to help them first. I said "No." I then asked if it was okay for me to go get the replacements. She said okay. Every package of Tate's cookies (different varieties), except 4, were expired (even back to October, 2021). I took the 4 that weren't expired, even though they weren't the chocolate chip variety. I didn't want the hassle of waiting in line, waiting for a refund, etc., etc. On my way out, I did check with another clerk to let him know I got my replacements and that all the other packages had expired expiration dates. I’ve been coming to this World Market for over 20 years, ever since my family moved to the area. Several months ago, my car was towed exactly at the 3-hour parking limit during the holiday season while I was Christmas shopping. World Market was one of the stores I shopped at that day.
The fact that my car was removed at the precise 3-hour mark suggests that security contacted the towing company before the limit expired to ensure it was towed immediately. I had receipts proving I was shopping, but neither the property manager nor the towing company cared. The manager initially said he would look into my case but ultimately did nothing.
What makes this worse is that this mall is right next to UCSD, so many of its visitors are students and government employees—groups for whom a towing bill can cause serious financial hardship.
After this experience, I will not be returning for any kind of shopping here, and I strongly urge others to avoid this...
Read moreGILBERT IS THE SH!T!! I went to go pick up my order as they were about to close and when I pulled up my email for the order number I read the email that said it was cancelled.
Gilbert explained that the stock don’t always align and someone had already picked up the desk I ordered because they had a rain check etc etc. He called another store to check if they had it and they weren’t positive either. He said he didn’t want to send us running all over (so sweet!) so he offered the floor model to us and got us all situated with that purchase.
