We visited end of March on a Sunday 2024. We arrived in town via cruise ship very early in the morning (7AM). We visited Del Morro first and did the hike around the outside. So we arrived at Castillo San Cristobal around noon. It was an overcast there so there were a number of people out and about. It was also Easter Sunday. We never felt like it was crowded but plenty of people.

We had our National Park pass which got us in for free and they also let us cut around the people waiting in line to pay. We completed the Junior Ranger booklets at del morro which are the same as here. We walked straight in and took a left into the park store to get our NPS passport cancellation stamps. There are different stamps for here versus Castillo San Felipe Del Morro. Some of the merch was sold out in the store but they were available online at the NPS store website.

They do have a video here but I believe it's the same at both forts. It's quite length closer to 30 mins. We skipped watching it again. We walked around the fort a bit. Went up and down and great views everywhere. We went into a couple of the little turrets on the end similar to del morro. Fantastic views but not as great as del morro. We spent almost 60 mins inside the fort. Kids were done and they said it was just like the OTHER fort. Honestly between the two, if I only had time to do one, I'd do el morro as it was less crowded and much better views and also had the nice trail that goes around the outside of the fort. There is a nice view from atop San Cristobal that looks at the cruise port and you can take a picture with your cruise ship in the background.

We hiked from the ship at the port to both forts and back without any problems. If you live in US and have a cell phone, the service will work in Puerto Rico so we used google maps to navigate the San Juan. If we were in San Juan again and had our NPS pass I would certainly...

Castillo San Cristóbal in San Juan, Puerto Rico, is an absolute marvel of history and architecture. My recent visit left me thoroughly impressed with its grandeur and historical significance. The fort's strategic location provides breathtaking panoramic views of the city and the ocean, making it a fantastic spot for both history enthusiasts and photographers.

Wandering through the labyrinthine tunnels and ramparts, I was transported back in time, imagining the life of soldiers who once defended this imposing fortress. The well-preserved exhibits and informative signage shed light on the fort's role in Puerto Rican history and its importance in the broader context of colonial struggles.

The Castillo's unique design, with its intricate masonry, cannons, and drawbridges, is a testament to the skilled craftsmanship of its time. The expansive grounds also offer a peaceful respite amidst lush greenery, allowing visitors to connect with the natural beauty of the island.

The friendly and knowledgeable staff further enhanced my experience, answering questions and sharing intriguing anecdotes about the Castillo's past. Whether you're a history buff or simply looking to immerse yourself in Puerto Rico's rich heritage, Castillo San Cristóbal is a must-visit destination that promises an unforgettable journey through time. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone exploring the vibrant city...
