Booked 2 Airbnb’s here for my trip to San Juan. (Didn’t want to book 2 but you’ll find out why we had to) First looks: the condo looks very very ugly from the outside and needs lots of renovations to make it nice. Very old like. But inside the apartments range from good to bad. The pool has some renovations around the part of the kiddy pool but the regular pool was okay to use. The inside of the building gets hooot and stuffy. TIP: beautiful beach that condo leads out too BUT there is a large rock on beach states that sewage sometimes spills out of it onto the beach.. nice beach but not so happy about that…
First AIRBNB: Hosted by Aida and Francisco J. DO NOT RECOMMEND. Dirty dirty dirty and gross. Felt nasty just being in there. Didn’t want to sit or touch anything. Floors disgusting, hose and tray dirty and sticking out of the wall. From what? Idk maybe the shower? But why would that be there for it? Then there were dirty crumbled towels mixed in the closet with extras. The place was very dirty and filthy. There’s mold, stains, etc on things. Floors are dirty. There’s globs of hair by the couch. The bedsheets smelled musty- like unclean from a smelly person. The one plug in the bedroom didn’t work and sparked. We were scared of an electrical fire.. the tv was broken. Just very unkept. Beware of this scam. We luckily were able to cancel our reservation and book another for a unit on the same building. Hosts were nice, but for the price it was ridiculous to start my vacation like that ….
Second AIRBNB: much better unit and had a balcony with a view of the city. Was kept up much better and enjoyed the rest of the trip in San Juan. This unit also came with parking, whereas the other one didn’t. Sucks how the condo looks from the outside but felt safe with a guard at the front of the gated parking entrance and another at the front door of the complex at all times. Beach right outside complex....

(1) For nearly $400 a night, there is no room cleaning, no laundry service, no breakfast, no lifeguards near the pool, and no floats are allowed to use in the pool (pool is 9 feet at deepest). Bed sheets are not clean, cheap material. (2) It’s a residential building, local residents are not happy about Airbnb/Booking short term rentals. See their reviews on Google map. (3) The building is old, this building desperately needs more maintenance. (4) Not convenient to buy drinks. No bar. (5) Construction noise in the early morning through the cheap balcony door. Not ideal for light sleepers. (6) Unclear pool rules and rude management, trying to evict guests. The property manager told us floats were not allowed according to rules using a condescending tone when we were in the pool. The sign by the pool didn’t mention about floats. The owner didn’t inform us about the floats before/when checking in. She said she could email/print the 40-page rulebook for us to see the specific regulations. So we asked for a copy and read through the 40-page rule book. When I pointed out to her there was nothing about floats, she was immediately offended and threatening to call the owner. She also told my partner that she felt sorry he married me, and started to say more personal insults. My partner was initially trying to mediate, but had to tell her that“what you said was way out of the line and you should apologize”, she apologized, everyone heard it, so we left the office. 3 hours later, we got a call from Peter threatening to evict us, asking us to move out in an hour without refunding, otherwise he would call the police. He said it was because we did name calling to the property manager, which we didn’t. She lied...
Read more1479 Ashford Ave. The building on the outside and inside is dated. From what I’m reading , repairs have been needed for years. We were very fortunate to have an apt hosted on Airbnb on the 20th floor. It was very clean. Well maintained. The view from the apt is lovely. Apt 2009~ Tropical Suite I gave the owners a 5 star review on Airbnb. However, they didn’t review us so I guess they’ll never see it. The building on the outside and inside is an eyesore compared to other buildings around. The hallway paint job is terrible. Parts of the outside look corroded. The front door reception should be locked but it’s not. The reception doesn’t question anyone walking in or out. There is a front gate. And a guard seated in the booth at the sidewalk level. I feel bad for the apt owners because I think their hands are tied when it comes to the building maintenance. The elevator has no ac so you’re dying from the heat by the time you reach the ground floor. And it’s not a fast moving elevator. I’ve listed some negatives. The positives are that the neighborhood is walkable with shops and restaurants to visit. There’s a gym and laundry which we didn’t use. The pool area seems ok. The beach is right there through a...
