Paseo de la Princesa is like stepping into a postcard of Old San Juan—except this one comes with food, live music, and endless photo opportunities. If you’re visiting Puerto Rico and don’t walk down this historic promenade, did you even go to San Juan?
The moment you set foot on the cobblestone path, you’re greeted by street vendors selling everything from handmade crafts to coconuts with a straw stuck in them. It’s a sensory overload in the best way possible—your nose will follow the smell of alcapurrias, your eyes will be drawn to the gorgeous colonial architecture, and your wallet might mysteriously get lighter.
The Raíces Fountain at the end of the walkway is a showstopper. It’s like the grand finale of a fireworks display, but with statues and cascading water. Plus, it’s the perfect Instagram backdrop to make all your friends jealous. (Pro tip: Try to time your visit for sunset. The lighting makes you look like a model—even if you just devoured three empanadas.)
As you stroll, you’ll hear live music and might even catch some salsa dancing—it’s impossible not to feel the vibrant energy of Puerto Rico here. And the best part? It’s free! (Well, except for the souvenirs, but let’s be real—you’re going to buy that “I ❤️ PR” magnet anyway.)
Paseo de la Princesa is equal parts history lesson, cultural immersion, and foodie heaven. Whether you’re traveling solo, with friends, or dragging your kids along, this is a must-visit spot that guarantees memories (and probably a few extra pounds). Come for the views, stay for the snacks, and leave with a full heart and an even...

Read more🌳🌳🌳 A charming tree-shaded walkway (located within walking distance of the cruise ships in Viejo San Juan) with local vendors and artisan’s selling often homemade items under individual tents.
Often you’ll find jewelry, belts/handbags/cigars/local beverages such as Mavi (a non-alcoholic “beer-like” drink) and Piragua’s (a cooking “shaved ice” snow cone).
Sometimes there’s a vendor who sells musical instruments made from gourds/plants and another person who sells orange 🍊 juice using an unusual peeling apparatus! (Where are they lately?)
The BEST part was always the live music and the dancing though I haven’t seen THAT either!
I hope these traditions will remain. These are some of the cultural aspects that set Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 in a class by itself!
