This was my go-to place to stay but now will never go back. In June of 2023 I put my name on the list for graduation weekend in June of 2025. I was told I was 3rd on the list. When I stayed there this past April of 2024, I spoke with them and asked when the reservations would be sent out for those on the list. I was told that they had not done the reservations yet and they still did not have pricing. I also tried to book my room for mother's weekend for April 2025 at that time and was told they only do reservations 6 months out so call back. So, when I called back and made my reservation for April 2025, I asked again about graduation weekend and was told no they had not started to make reservations off of the list and still did not have pricing. At that time, I also told them that I had originally said I only needed the two rooms for two nights but that I also needed to add on Sunday as well. The women who made my April reservation said no problem and took all the information down to add to my spot on the wait list. Well today I find out that the list that I put my name on in June of 2023 was only a customer who had called list, and they don't actually call you or email you from that list and all the rooms for Friday and Saturday are all taken, and they only have rooms for Sunday night. What is the purpose of the list then? So disappointed on so many levels. No apology for all of the times I have called in and talked with staff, I have left messages about graduation weekend on their recorder with no call back, I have been onsite and talked with numerous staff and their complete miscommunication on this process. Never once was it shared that even though I called in on June of 2023 and was told I as 3rd on the list that the list really did not matter and I did not have a room and the process is actually .....A process I still have no clue what it is other than the two people that I called today to try to find out what happened all they could say is we are sold out and the list is just a us writing down who called in about graduation. Truly Baffled. As a repeat customer of theirs since 2021 I am saddened by this Poor Customer Experience and complete lack of empathy from them. My family and I will never be...
Read moreLovely little place. I think they recently remodeled the rooms because ours was very clean and the furnishings were all new. I appreciate their modern yet classic design! Unfortunately, our guest experience was degraded by the current renovations the building is undergoing. Their kitchen was closed, so breakfast was grab-and-go (croissants, coffee, fruit, etc.). I have no idea if we still paid full price for the rooms or not. Petit Soliel is a Bed & Breakfast, and clearly, the homemade breakfast is a huge draw at this place...so that was really disappointing. What's even more disappointing is that we weren't compensated in any small way to make up for it. Maybe a small gift card to the Splash Cafe next door? Just an idea.
Another issue I had during our visit was that when I went to the bathroom one early morning, there was a man at our window. It was extremely alarming as we were on the second floor. I quickly pulled the blind down and remembered they're doing renovations, so I assume the guy was doing work on a ladder. Still, a heads-up would be nice! Another issue is that the water got shut off for about 45 minutes due to a plumbing emergency. This was really annoying since it happened in the late morning, just as we were trying to get ready and head out for the day. My husband went downstairs to inform the front desk about the man at our bathroom window and they gave us a complimentary bottle of wine to make us feel better. The staff was overall very sweet. I'm sure they're all trying to do their best during stressful renovations, but management really needs to improve the guest experience in the midst of all the weird inconveniences. Despite all of this, I look forward to returning and hopefully having a better stay after the renovations...
Read moreWe have been visiting the Petit Soleil since 2018. We have always enjoyed our stay here, but are in love with the new design and renovations! It's absolutely stunning. You now check in at a chic little bar area and the room feels inviting for an evening cocktail to the delicious breakfast that comes with the stay. House made baked goods fill the air when you arrive in the afternoon. The patios are full of flowers, a fountain and cozy seating to find a nice quiet spot to read a book or sip on one of their cocktails... Hello delicious espresso martini! Apertif hour is fun with tasty local wines, hors d'oeuvres and incredible hospitality. It's included in the stay and a cool time to chat and meet other guests. We've made friends along the way during these stays. I'm writing this review now because we stayed in one of the new junior suites with a balcony and LOVED it. Beautifully designed, an experience with mini bars in each room so a night cap is always waiting in the fridge with signature bottled cocktails. We peaked into a few of the other rooms when house cleaning was cleaning and it's fun to see how each room has a different theme, vibe and amazing wallpapers! Every time we stay at this hotel the rooms are so clean & spotless. You can tell they pay attention to detail which can be rare at this wonderful price point. Really comfterble mattress and linens. Also they just opened a new restaurant/bar on the property called Condesa that was delicious with top notch cocktails and fresh Mexican food. The best we have had in SLO and we have tried a ton of bars and local restaurants, this is now one of our favs!! Will continue coming back to this hotel, it feels like home away...
