My iPad Pro had a black screen of death. My iPad is from 2018, purchased in 2021 and had no physical damage, no water damage. It was in pristine condition and had used it perfectly fine, battery over 80% just fine.
I had tried everything to turn it back on: Hard resetting it, letting it ādieā and charge it the next day, trying a different charger, different outlet, connecting it to my computer to see if it recognized it, massaged and hit it a few times to see if anything inside clicked. Connecting it all night and even letting it rest a few days to see if it turned on by any chance. Nothing.
I called Apple support and they told me to try resetting it again, plugging it to my computer, (which I had already did but thereās nothing wrong in trying again, so I did and nothing). They had advised to go to an Apple Store or Best Buy and opted for Best Buy as it was closer to me.
I went the next day and the clerk had told me that they had tried to run some recovery apps, but the iPad kept saying that it simply wonāt turn on. I was told that the iPad is dead and it wonāt turn back on, that there is no use wasting money in trying to fix my iPad and Iād be better off buying a whole new one. All my files saved on my iPad would have been forever lost if I had not done my research about this issue.
Upon going on google; various websites where people had the same problem, they all worked pointed to backlight, faulty battery or the motherboard/logic board itself.
I knew it not to be backlight as this is where the iPad is on, but the screen is black. So it was either the battery or logic board. This specific store is what I was recommended. I read the reviews, the services and what they do. I gave it a shot as I had no other option to turn to and told them my problem.
I had to wait a few days for the battery replacement to come in, it didnāt take long at all when I received a text saying that my device was ready. I was so, so relieved it turned back on and thanked them to help fix it. Yes, it was a bit of the cost because of the battery and the diagnosis but compared to buying a whole new iPad, Iād much rather pay than purchasing a whole new one.
Needless to say, I am very happy with the results. No damage was done on my iPad when I picked it up. The only nitpick I have is that it had fingerprints all over it, but that can easily be cleaned. Overall,...

Disregarding the rude check in guy, I figured they were just awkward people. I sat next door in a cafe with my iPad for 2 hours and came back at 6pm. The guy is freaking out telling me heās been swamped all day and that heās not started. So, I asked for another time quote and he, I believe his name was Colby, said 30 more minutes. The guy turns on Disney music and starts singing to himself while attempting to repair my phone. He comes out 20 mins later and says the battery he was replacing it with was defective. Iāll list the red flags I foolishly ignored: Manager said two things would need to get fixed, employee only said one; Did not call me when they got the parts they ordered for me, only called me to ask if I had picked up my laptop before I had even dropped it off let alone knew about the parts; Lack of communication with customer several times; after they called while I was at work (which I told them I would be) and told me the parts they bought (and the parts I spent two weeks waiting for) were defective, I informed them I would want a refund and I was told to come in Monday. I went in thinking I would spend $400 to have my working laptop fixed to perfection, and I leave with a not working laptop because the screen that they were trying to fix (that still worked mind you) wouldnāt turn back on after they put it back. I have to get a new laptop now, after wasting my time and patience.
