MadDogz Hobby — Attraction in Sandy

As far as reviews, here, Yelp or otherwise, don't always believe everything you read!! Just visited Maddogz/Remote Control Hobby shop in Sandy, Oregon and had a very good experience talking to owner Mike. After arriving at 11am a sign taped to the front door stated opening was at noon on Sunday. Prior to leaving home I checked their website and noted that it stated they opened at 11am on Sunday. Since I drove approximately 20 miles from Vancouver, WA I waited. About 11:30am a gentleman, who I later learned was Mike, arrived and opened the shop early for me to purchase a new Axial SCX24 Jeep Wrangler rock crawler. I gave it a four because giving it a five after just one visit seemed a little premature. I was struck by the friendly and very helpful service we received. The owner (I presume) took his time to explain a couple different rc planes that may suit our 10 year old grandson who is new to the sport. He even suggested a couple sites around town to fly our plane indoors with others who could help us get started. We were impressed that the shop offers a little space in the rear of the shop where you can work (or have them do repairs at a cost to you) or tinker around with your hobby in the company of other rc enthusiasts. My boys were wanting RC cars, but being someone who used to enjoy the RC hobby in my younger days, I knew they didn't want to mess with a cheap department store version. I took them into MadDogz and let them take a look around and check out the options. Jeremy was most helpful and helped them select a decent model for them to learn on. We ended up with two Horizon Hobby ECX Ruckus 1/18th scale 4WD monster trucks. A very good starter setup with a LiPo battery, simple charger and transmitter. My boys love them!
