Well I would like to have given better, but I cannot stand people who treat the disabled less than equal. Went in with my disabled father to help him pick up a firearm he had ordered online. Guy who was the on duty manager, basically implied multiple times the firearm was for me. Seemed like he was trying to get us to admit something that wasnāt true. Guessing itās because my father is blind. However, this wasnāt the discrimination. Just pointing out how this guy seemed to be trying everything he could to prevent us from walking out with the purchase. When it came time to fill out the background check, he would not allow me to help my blind father. Saying it would be illegal. I explained to him he was wrong, and that all that mattered was that he understood the questions being asked, answered honest, and signed. He told me I had no clue and was entitled to my opinion. I was trying to prevent telling him my father was disabled and making my father feel less than. So he then begin to help him fill out the sections my dad couldnāt. All the while making my dad feel dumb for having to ask him for help, instead of me which was the entire reason I was there. And also was the basis of his argument that no one but my father could be the one to fill out the form. My father was humiliated. And left feeling less than everyone else. He is completely within his rights to purchase a firearm. He has never broken the law and just because heās disabled, doesnāt mean he cannot be the same as anyone else. I contacted Scheels main office, but never heard back after being contacted saying I would be contacted again. I will never go to this location again. They need to educate their managers on the Americans With Disabilities Act. As well as ATF rules and regulations. They also need to educate that manager on how to treat his elders, customers, those with disabilities...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI want to start by saying that my kids and I love Scheels and come often to shop. However, today I had a TERRIBLE customer service experience. I went in today around 11 am with my mom and three kids to shop and ride the ferris wheel. We measured my daughter to verify height qualification and bought tickets. As we were getting on the ride the attendant named Cyrus said "I think she's too short". We explained that we measured her before buying tickets, and he measured her again. She once again was clearly tall enough, but Cyrus said "nope too short". The kids in line behind us said "but it was to her head?" My daughter began crying as she was so excited to ride. He proceeded to be extremely rude to my mom and older son, boardline yelling "remove your seatbelt!" as they were getting off. He had not yet removed the armbar, so my mom was struggling to get her arm underneath it when he yelled "for the second time, remove your seatbelt!" The general manager, Ryan, came over to assess the situation. After explaining what happened and that she was the correct height, Ryan said "Well I'm sorry YOU feel that way". Ryan then very condescendingly mansplained that "it is a state regulation for children to be 36 inches to ride a ferris wheel". We had her stand next to the line again for him and he said "her bow is the only thing touching the line, her head is below it." š¤ (Picture for reference. She is clearly in flat shoes as well). He asked us to remove her bow and measure her again, When she was still at the line he said "her hair is poofy". Ryan then said "she's a few centimeters below the line". This is clearly not true. I have never experienced staff members showing such a blatant display of a power struggle at a child's expense. It was very frustrating and heartbreaking for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent into the archery department to buy a rest for my bow and have them put a sight on I purchased. Employee seemed nice, and was happy to point out which rest would work for my bow and help put on the sight. It was only after he installed it that he asked āif I had intentions of hunting within the stateā I said yes, I had drawn this year and thatās when he told me the sight would be illegal to hunt with here in Utah. It would have been nice to have known before taking off the sight I had installed and dialed to my bow, before letting me know Iāll just have to take it off. The more frustrating part was that after I returned home, I took the sight off to put back in the box and realized I was missing not one, but 5 screws for my previous arrow rest and sight. Upon further investigation, the manual for the sight I had them put on (that they said was illegal to use) was now missing. I called immediately to see if they were there and able to pick up, to which I was told hold on. About 3 minutes later, I was told thereās no manuals or extra parts. I told the employee, I need the manual as itās a intensive sight to dial in and was answered with ācanāt you just look them up?ā Which I found highly unprofessional since they had lost it in the first place. Since then I have been going to Humphries Archery, on State Street and 40th. I advise anyone that needs help with anything archery related, go there. The staff is more than knowledgeable, and I ended up just talking with them for 45 minutes when I went in there to buy a different sight from them. They let me shoot all the bows they had, and set them all up for me before I felt comfortable purchasing. I have a Mathews lift on order now and am so glad I didnāt go through the scheels terrible...
