Zao Asian Cafe — Restaurant in Sandy

I've never heard of this restaurant and it had solid ratings so we decided to give it a shot. I'm pleasantly pleased with what we experienced, the food was very tasty asian-fusion style and healthy and tasted fresh... which can be hard to come by in counter service at a reasonable price. Walking in the layout and setup immediately reminded me of chipotle restaurant and I'm 99% sure it's part of the same company, so you have the options to customize the food options the way you want. I went with a salad with chicken, it had rice noodles and a variety of other delicious vegetables and a delicious sesame dressing that tasted a bit like peanut sauce . The chicken was cooked perfectly, just the right amount of seasoning for a mild spicy taste (so mild that picky eaters would still like it), and I added some sriracha because I like a bit more spice. My girlfriend got a rice noodle bowl with steak and oh man the flavor was on point! The kids loved the tacos with rice. All-in-all I'm very pleased at this restaurant for the tasty healthy food, the prices are ~$7.50-8 base for a regular meal and to me that's the perfect price for the quantity and value to where I feel good about coming back regularly. The portion sizes were perfect, just enough to where I felt adequately full. They've really done their homework at this place and have checked all my boxes for healthy delicious food at a reasonable price and value for the quantity so I will be coming...

Can't go wrong if you're in the area!

A little tucked away, and a fairly small restaurant. It's not very well soundproofed, so even with just a few other customers it's extremely difficult to hear the employees. As someone who's not a regular, I had to somewhat guess what sauce was being pointed to, and say "sure" when asked if I wanted it.

But it turned out good! The food itself was fantastic. Food was very (temperature) hot, and freshly made. The chicken wasn't overcooked or rubbery, the veggies were obviously fresh, and they had some lovely drink choices available outside of just standard soft drinks. Haven't been through much of the menu, but what I have been through is great!

Priced well, if I remember right I paid in the range of $15 for my meal and drink. I'd pick it over the nearby restaurants any day. If you're at Scheels, worth...

I am falling in love with this place. The food is delicious, prepared with quality ingredients and served up as quickly as you can order it. The yellow curry sauce is a perfect blend of all the right flavors yet isn’t too spicy for my weak stomach. I highly recommend this place for any occasion to anyone looking for a delicious meal in a hurry.

I am leaving 4 stars instead of 5 because I could not hear my business colleagues as we tried to carry out a lunch meeting. The music was just too loud. And no, I’m not hard of hearing, I’m 33 years old and have no audible issues. Both this location and Orem have both over played their speakers. No issues here with their music choice, but the volume was just too loud for a group of 4 to have a decent conversation. If the music issue is fixed the next time I stop in I will adjust my...
