I've visited this location Village Baker a few times, each time something goes wrong. Usually it's mild, like a misunderstood order or a wrong delivery, of which I wouldn't mind or think much of. This last Wednesday was shocking though:
On Pioneer Day we went out for dinner there. The kid taking our order did a great job. I got my usual: a vegetarian-provolone sandwich, no onions. Easy enough. The receipt accurately showed what I ordered. When it came, my partner spotted a huge chunk of what appeared to be meat on my sandwich. Yep, sure enough a large slice of turkey was there. I'm a vegetarian and meat will actually make me sick. I took it up to the front and pointed out the meat, they seemed confused what I was even returning, but I asked for them to remake it. I understand things happen, I wasn't particularly angry and they were willing to remake it so I wasn't bugged. He hand-wrote a copy of what I ordered. The sandwich came out a few minutes later, this time with onions. Again, I ordered without onions. Okay, not a big deal, but a little annoying to go up twice. This time he apologized and I think a manager or perhaps kitchen supervisor also apologized and I appreciated that, there's a good chance he just wrote i \t down incorrectly. They kindly offered to make the sandwich again.
When the sandwich came out again, I began eating it. It appeared to be correct. However, after a few bites, I discovered a huge piece of ham inside of it. This is serious. Three incorrect, sandwiches, two of which have meat on a sandwich for a vegetarian. I am pretty shocked by the lack of care and pride in what they do and respect for their customers at this point. I threw away the sandwich and left, they clearly didn't have respect and care enough for me to talk to anyone, so I hope that this review gets to someone higher up who cares about their food and customers. We will most likely never return, and it's a bummer because I do like their food when they get it right. And we've had some wonderful experiences where an owner randomly gives out free desserts and it's a really pleasant place usually. But this was a bit extreme, again, three wrong sandwiches being remade, especially considering that they are meat on a vegetarian. It just made us feel like it's either on purpose, or they just really don't care. We might try another location, but I can never recommend a vegetarian to visit this place. The risk is way way...
Read moreSo sad that I feel the need to post this. I emailed the location to give them an opportunity to shed some light on the situation/s and had even asked to speak to a manager when I called and got zero response, it’s been almost 2 weeks. Pretty bummed but we won’t be coming back to this location, ever. This is the email I sent:
Hey there!
I’d like to preface this with the fact that I don’t usually complain about my food/service unless it’s really bad. We are extremely upset with both the food and service that we received tonight, 2/12/19 at the Sandy location.
I ordered my food around 5:30 pm for a 6:20 pick up. As (almost) always, I ordered 2 small pizzas. 1 Baker’s Choice and 1 Buffalo Chicken, with sides of ranch.
My husband arrives on time at 6:20 and waits for 20 minutes to be told that it will be another 10 minutes. That in itself is annoying but doesn’t warrant me calling 2 locations to track down this email. My husband gets home (not knowing what pizza I ordered for myself but who cares at this point because we wouldn’t want him to wait another 30 minutes for another pizza to be made) and my pizza ends up being a BBQ Chicken, not Buffalo, not the end of the world as it’s my usual choice any way. We’re extremely hungry and... our pizzas are barely over half way done, they’re raw. Non-edible. We had to start our oven to cook our pizza. I call the Sandy location back to verify what I ordered to have it confirmed that it was indeed a Buffalo Chicken. I ask the gentleman on the phone if there is a complaint email/phone number/contact and he says he has no idea. I complain that my husband waited 30 minutes, I got the wrong pizza, and the pizzas are raw and that it’s unacceptable. He’s likely very new as his skills with what to say in dealing with such a situation are lacking.
We probably eat at Village Baker once a week, I’ve turned all of my family and coworkers on to VB. You’re so much...
Read moreThe cashier knowingly lied about the freshness of a loaf of blueberry cranberry bread I bought. Before making the purchase I asked the cashier specifically "Is this bread from today?", she told me "Yes, it is today's.". A quick check on Village Baker's website before driving away shows blueberry cranberry bread loaves are only made on Mondays, but today is Tuesday. When asked about this, the cashier brought me 3 loaves of bread and told me those were the only ones from today. Obviously, she knew everything very well and it was not an honest mistake. When confronted with her lie, she said something along the lines that the loaf of bread from yesterday still sells for the same price thus it wouldn't have made any difference and also attacked me as someone who always wanted something cheap. Even though I personally only buy bread loaves from Village Baker that are baked the same day for the freshness, there is nothing wrong that someone else buys bread made the day before. What's at issue is whether or not Village Baker is doing business with honesty and integrity. The cashier's name was printed on one of the...
