I was so excited after reading mostly great reviews. My girl and I stopped by yesterday afternoon and made an appointment for a couples massage in the evening. I specifically asked for Kelly who I read about in reviews. The front desk person said yes. In hindsight, I am not even sure she understood me.
We went back in the evening, was rushed into the room for a couples massage. There was nothing relaxing about the experience. I didn't get Kelly. The massage was almost all done with her feet and elbows. It was very painful and when I expressed wanting a lighter touch, she didn't follow my instruction. There was a group in the hall right outside our room screaming and laughing for 20 minutes. After asking several times for something to be done, I finally had to get up and made a loud Shushing noise. I realized my massage therapist had no idea what I was asking. She left the room to silence the noise but it did continue afterwards.
Overall the experience sucked. I walked in without pain and have pain in my back since. When we left the room, the front desk person apologized for all the noise but made no offer of any compensation for the bad service. She even handed me a tablet with a minimum tip of 25% on it. While we did tip, we adjusted the rate to just under 20% which they really didn't deserve.
FYI...the massage ended at 46 minutes, not an hour. This was according to the clock in the room.
I just moved a few blocks away from this place and I so wished it would be great. I would have gone all the time. What a huge disappointment, terrible massage and totally unprofessional staff during our visit. Regretfully, we will not be back.
I have edited my review to add this paragraph. It has been almost 3 weeks since my massage. I have had acupuncture and additional work to alleviate what I am told is inflammation in discs 6 and 7, causing pressure against nerves, and 100% a result of the massage. At times, the pain has been unbearable. I went into the massage healthy and active without ever having a neck injury and walked out with what has been 3 weeks of discomfort and pain. The spa called me, offering a free massage to take my review down. I wonder how many other bad reviews were removed by this offer. I would never go back to this place. I highly doubt a massage therapist who spoke zero English was properly trained or qualified, which has me concerned, probably not a legal US...
Read moreI was so excited to finally treat myself to a massage as the last time I had one was pre-Covid. I’ve been in Scottsdale for the past week attending a work conference, and after sitting for five days of training, my body needed it.
I was raving to a coworker from Alaska how amazing Thai massages were. Back in Hawaii, they are amazing. The therapist gives a a good deep tissue massage focusing on all your muscle groups, and does what I like to refer to as “assisted yoga.” I was looking forward to the stretching.
The experience I received here was horrible. Massage therapist did not speak a single word to me. Did not ask about pressure, comfort level, nothing. She mostly massages me through a sheet, and when she did apply oil, it was rushed. It was more like she was spreading it across my body.
She did not focus on the muscle groups at all. I came in hoping they’d fix the kink in my neck and stiff shoulders, but she didn’t even massage my shoulders at all. She mainly focused on my lower back. She used her elbow to “massage” my shoulder blades and other long muscle groups, but it just felt like torture.
When she stretched me, she tried to push my leg farther than my flexibility allows. I felt like she was going to injure me by pulling my hamstring.
When it was time to pay, they presented the device and already had the tip displayed on the screen. No explanation of charges and no transparency for how much the actual service was. Just a screen selecting the percentage of top that started at 20%, 25%, and 30%. That’s steep for the service I was rendered.
I am extremely saddened by the experience. I wanted to love it, but it was awful. Instead of feeling relaxed and at peace, I left feeling upset. She literally just haphazardly beat me up for 90 minutes, and now I have bruises on my back and hips.
Definitely will not come back when I’m...
Read moreI had a fantastic experience my first time here with a Thai/deep tissue massage, but after my weird experience yesterday I won’t be back. My first visit, I was placed in a private room. This time I got a semi-private space with a curtain partition so I could hear the person in the space next to me during their massage.
The massage started out ok except that my masseuse kept burping and making some strange noises that sounded like they were throwing up in their mouth. Hard to relax while worrying that they might throw up on me at any moment. The Thai portion of the massage was excruciating. I was looking forward to some therapeutic yoga-like stretching and instead I felt like this guy was intentionally trying to hurt me by forcefully bending me in whatever random direction he could think of. At one point he had me on my stomach and was pushing my leg up and back so hard I was afraid he was going to throw my back out. He also spent significantly more time on certain areas, kept moving me in ways where I wasn’t covered, and overall just gave me a gross and creepy vibe.
The check out process was just as frustrating. The front desk is pushy about tips (their machine automatically prompts you to give an min of 25%) and kept taking phone call after phone call while I was trying to pay. Finally paid and left and it has taken me about a day to process how truly uncomfortable I was with the whole thing. They aLao played the exact same song over and over the entire 90 minutes I was there. Probably a silly thing to bring up compared to everything else, but it just added to the weirdness of...
